Neither.

Nana on my mom's side and Gamma on my dad's side.

We're not fricking rednecks though.

We called ours "Nanny." When she was younger, she worked for a family in New Orleans as a nanny. I had an older sister that was 10 years older than me that heard this when she was super little and started calling her that too. But my sister ALSO started calling our other grandmother that as well, which that one absolutely hated. To add insult to injury, my sister decided that to differentiate the two she'd add a "last" name, but not their actual last names.

The one that had been the nanny got called Nanny Duke, because they had a big German Sheppard at the time named Duke, and the other got called Nanny Awley, because her husband's (my grandad) name was Charlie and my sister couldn't pronounce that. So it was basically Nanny Charlie.

Grandads were both called Paw Paw.

Same.

My wife's mom has our kids calling her memaw. Sounds dumb, so fitting for her.

Paternal grandmother was Nana. Maternal grandmother was Grandma.

Paternal grandfather was PawPaw. Maternal grandfather died 14 years before I was born so never had a name for him.

My kids call my parents Granny and Pawpaw and my wife’s parents are Nana and Pop.
