Mine has been sounding like a dragster taking off for the last three years. I'm waiting.

It replaced a noisy Hotpoint with the big blocky buttons. We were going to wait for it to die and the sales guy said it won't die because it's built like a tank. It also sounded like one. We use the KitchenAid daily and it's been fine.

We bought a Bosch when we bought our house almost 4 years ago and it's been fantastic. It has the computer buttons but I don't know of many that won't. It works really well though and was worth what we spent on it.

Bosch and GE are my top picks. we're running a GE washer/dryer, fridge, and dishwasher. All but the Fridge are 10 years old plus with 0 repair.

+1 on the Bosch. Ours has been abused for 13 years and still going. Stay away from any Samsung appliances.

They don't make appliances any more like they did many years ago

And people don’t know why. It’s not that manufacturers can’t or don’t want to. It’s that government regulations have turned manufacturing into a quality- killing garbage dump. They produce junk because they have to to survive.

Dish washers now need to be called sanitizers not washers. The new models will require hand washing prior to placing in dishwasher and take about 3 hours to cycle.

And they don't dry.

Only a psycho would put a plate with food on it in the dishwasher.

I just had to replace my 16 year old dishwasher 4-5 months ago. I didn't realize how much hate I would have for the top controls. I guess I never realized how often I touched the top of the dishwasher, so you have to remember to lock the controls so it doesn't accidentally run or change the settings.

The 3rd rack, which I thought would be convenient for serving pieces or tumbler lids, is more of a nuisance because you can't fit any tall tumblers in the 2nd rack. I'm really thinking about taking out the top rack since the cups I use most often are about 8" tall, which is apparently too tall.

I switched from the detergent tablets to a gel/liquid with the new dishwasher, and use Jet Dry, and have not had too big of an issue with dishes drying. Judging from what others said, I figured the dishes would still be soaking wet after a cycle.

Here's the one I got, and aside from the above critiques, I'm happy overall GE Stainless Dishwasher

We've never had to pre-wash dishes for our Bosch. Scrape the plates (as usual) and then they go in. Haven't had an issue with grime or anything along those lines. But we regularly clean the dishwasher and keep the drain clear. It only takes longer than 3 hours if you're using the sanitize setting.

Our dishwasher also dries fine.

Thanks for that information. I don't want 3 racks. They wouldn't serve me well. Mine is the old standard 2 racks with the utensil rack in the door rather than in the bottom rack. I don't see any so far with the rack in the door.

Yep. That's exactly what a man who killed his "dishwasher" would say.
