not sure what it was called but someone would crumple up a coke cup and throw it, someone picks it up and runs for their life until tackled by 20 guys and piled on. He throws the cup out from under the pile and someone else grabs it and the process starts over until the bell rang to go back to class.

That feeling of going back to class busted up, sweated out and whatever, and then gotta do school shite, so bad.

Yep.

It sucked. I was so small. Nimble, but small.

I first heard it called "smear the queer" when my son was about 9 years old around 2000. I thought it was funny but rather inappropriate.
What happened to parents being completely cool with their kids beating the hell out of each other while calling each other slurs? People got uptight quickly.

Smear the deer is what my boys call it. They also play flashlight tag, not German spotlight.

I was the "Al Bundy" of 3rd - 4th grade STQ. Any of the 20 classmates that tried to tackle me paid the price. Glory days. lol

We did it to whoever wore LA gear shoes to School. They would go home crying with grass stains in close. Good times.

Exactly this until someone broke their collarbone at recess....then the game was outlawed at school.

Yes we played it, but our go to was “fumble-roosky”. Basically, smear the queer on a trampoline. The rule was you had to fumble once you were tackled. Lots of being knocked off the trampoline. Looking back, so damn dangerous
