How educated are the OT baws about the intentional PR campaign and market manipulation by De Beers to make the public think Diamonds are exceptionally rare, limit the amount of diamonds available on the market and therefore artificially keep prices or "value" high?

How educated is the OT?

UPDATE: Lot's of engagement here but none of the baws want to admit they've been duped related to climate change PR campaigns...funny

I too prefer my diamonds pass through the bloodied hands of a small Sierra Leonanian child.

The tale of how EV batteries come to be is similarly amusing.

It’s going to be a lot harder for them to keep up the charade now that lab diamonds are so prevalent. Colored lab gemstones weren’t as disruptive to mined because they look visibly different. Lab diamonds don’t look different (and are identical in composition) and cost almost nothing at this point.

I see it argued that lab stones are worthless, but you still come out ahead paying $300-$500 per carat and having it worth $0 than paying $8000/ct and having a 25% resale value if you’re lucky.

Incredible story, pennies on the dollar for slaves to go, mine diamonds and sell them for exorbitant prices. Genius business model

about as unethical as you can get, but genius

My wife has a lab diamond on her left hand. She is none the wiser.

She knows and she doesn't care. She thinks it's stupid to pay way more for something that is technically the exact same thing.

Now if I could just get her to think it's stupid to pay a butt load of money for a rock in general.

I subtlety brought to us issue up the other day and my girls says she’d be fine with a lab created diamond when the time comes.

I hope it’s not a trap.

Diamonds are one of, if not the most common gemstones on the planet.

Not only are they exceptionally common, we can reproduce exact copies in a lab, that the naked eye can’t distinguish from real, which essentially makes them worthless.

But bitches love shiny things bc they’re told to so we keep buying them for the bitches.
