I hope it’s not a trap.
Mine knows and is perfectly fine with it. She was able to get a stone twice the size of a natural diamond, and less than half the price. If it had been a natural stone with the quality of hers, it would have been a $30k+ ring.

Comedian, Ron White had the best take on the cartel that is the diamond industry with DeBeers being at the helm.
In one of his shows he said the new slogan they came out with was:
"Diamonds, render her speechless".
And he quipped they really meant to say:
"Diamonds, that'll shut her up"!!!

I see it argued that lab stones are worthless, but you still come out ahead paying $300-$500 per carat and having it worth $0 than paying $8000/ct and having a 25% resale value if you’re lucky.
The business runs on women’s emotions, it is what it is

Diamonds...Does the OT know the history about one of the most successful PR campaigns?
Congratulations on revealing this dark secret to the rest of us clueless knaves!

Yep and your local jeweler marks them up double what they paid at least.

Diamonds are one of, if not the most common gemstones on the planet.
This is true but you still need certain geological conditions to harvest them. Otherwise people all over the world would just be digging up their own diamonds. Think of it like magma. There is an infinite amount of magma deep in the Earth but if you want to see molten lava bubbling out of the ground, then there are only a handful of places where you can witness that phenomenon with the naked eye.
I mean the diamond industry is shitty from top to bottom - from the human traffickers in Africa to the orthodox Jewish wholesalers in Antwerp to the douchebag working the counter at Zales, but if there was a viable replacement to that system we would have seen it by now.
You're right about lab grown though. That's on women for expecting something natural and expensive. It's a litmus test, facilitated by clever marketing, to help women ensure that a man will cater to their emotional and financial irrationality in the future.

When NOLA was tearing down all the statues in the city it was interested to head to South Africa and hear their feelings about the statues of Da Beers family members around the city.

Why would you pay 2X as much for the something that is the same?
Posted on 6/19/24 at 10:57 am to Evil Little Thing
Are lab diamonds marked in any way? Asking for a husband.
