Her argument presumes the fact that the city is safe now. Not a good argument.

Desiree Charbonnet had a reputation as being shady when it comes to corruption, but she would have been a better representative of the city.

There’s a reason Charbonette lost.
She’s corrupt. She was not a better option except for and ONLY for the fact that she looks better and speaks better.

Charbonnet might have represented better but results would have been the same if not worse. She is corrupt all day long. She’s also a plaintiff attorney and supports the consent decree to the core which is the real problem with New Orleans policing.

How would you suggest doing that without a police presence?

Well, that, and the shitty police work. That’s a problem too.

Did I read that the parish operates at full capacity at +/-1,400 and they are currently running at +/-900 patrol officers? For 300,000 citizens is dangerously low, I can't imagine it getting as low as 150 in the next 10 months.

Full capacity was 1750 Pre-Katrina. The NOPD currently has 553 NOPD Officers total in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Districts. Of that the NOPD has a total of 407 NOPD Patrol and Senior Patrol Officers for all of those districts. There are 267 Senior Police Officers (4 years plus) and 140 Police Officers (less than 4 years) when you add in Captains, Lieutenants, & Sergeants the 407 bumps up to 550 total number of officers for all districts.

Of the 303 of the 550 have been with the NOPD for more than 10 years. 243 have been with the NOPD for less than 10 years. 3 of 550 have been with the NOPD for less than 1 year!

We have no idea how many of the 550 are out on sick leave, injured reserve, or have been suspended. Again the numbers discussed at the NOPF were woefully below 550 (250-300) with an expectation of around 150 by July 2023.

Still related to the consent decree which runs good cops out prohibits hiring good cops and leaves the dregs.
Cops don’t like being controlled by bureaucrats and the decree makes them all subject to oversight from people who don’t know real world police work

At least the city has a hair pick statue now.

That was part of a temporary art show. Thankfully it moved on to another city a month ago.

I mean, is there any real solution? The thugs have taken over the city and the chief thug sits in the mayor’s office threatening to cancel Mardi Gras

I mean there has to be a mechanism to remove her arse. Given 3 more years and lame duck status, things have the potential to get really bad.

Have it anyway. If they don't have enough cops to have it they certainly wouldn't have enough to stop it right?

Name it “the first annual Latoya the destroya festival.”

Motto is ,” keeping thuggin real.”

Pimps, human traffickers, and drug dealers can sit at the bleachers by city hall.

Seriously, if there was no Mardi Gras there are companies that depend on the event from bead companies, float companies, catering companies, tourism or what is left of them, and costume makers for the balls.

If she does not have it this would be glourious for the white liberals who voted for her.

As far as being an NOPD officer.
Why, when you could have 1 million officers nothing will change. If the judges and DA let these people off why put your life in the line.

Kind of hard to keep the city safe when Destroya and the judges won’t sentence recidivist carjackers to prison, instead giving them probation and offering to lower that if they go to college or get a job.

She says she believes in a "wholistic approach" to crime prevention....whatever the hell does that mean?
