I’ve lived in five places in the last seven years. I’m ready to stop moving

Find a place that makes you happy, move there and settle down. I moved around a little when I was younger but wish I could do it all over again.

There is 0.0% chance I’m going to Portland.

That place is the liberal Mecca

We are closer to Farragut to get into the schools we wanted, but still an easy 15 minute ride to downtown.

That place has become a nightmare. I miss all the open farm land, McMansions as far as the eye can see now. I'm glad I left when I did, it's sad to see it that built up.

There is a cow pasture about a mile up the road from me, and a tomato/blueberry farm even closer.

Have you been leaching off the taxpayer's teet your entire life, or just since you got your career off the ground?

And people are actually more mobile than ever before. The ability to work remotely has exponentially increased the proliferation of people moving to wherever they want whenever they want. Wasn’t like this 15-20 years ago.

Maybe you should complain to the department of interior for providing jobs for people off the tax payers dime. Not my problem... you’re paying me.

My wife's job used to be tied to the area. She changed careers after we had our youngest that's almost a teenager now and that's no longer the case. I work in IT. I can find a job in most decent sized cities or from work from home.

How’d you afford a house in Glacier on government salary?

I’ve thought about working for the NPS or similar but didn’t think one could afford something like a house. Of course that’s not the only factor in taking such a job.

Lived and got married in BR. Was decent at my job and a company in Tennessee took notice. They offered me a $40k raise, I said sounds great but I’ll need to find my wife a job as well. They said frick it we will hire her too. She got a $20k raise. We didn’t blink before saying yes.

It was a huge life change for us, in a positive way. Moved into a 120 year old historical house so I always have projects to do which I love. 3 hours from 3 national parks so that was a great living increase as well. No state income tax is awesome. Everyone asks us if we will move back when we have kids...hell no.

Bought a house outside of Glacier and Whitefish in October 2018 and have never looked back.

My brother was smart enough to move there 6 years ago and I now visit him a couple times a year. Bastards house and office they bought in downtown Whitefish have both already more than doubled in value since they bought the properties based on recent appraisals. Unfortunately the secret is out about that area. If I haven’t run into you there before you’ve probably run into them

Dating a girl I met in Monroe at ULM that transferred to a small school in Wichita for soccer. Dates long distance for two years. Moved here after I graduated until she finished out her degree. Moved with almost no money to my name and no job offer. Ended up getting a job after about a month and a half at an insurance agency. Worked there for 2 months and hated it. Quit and got a job in the school system as a para. Got a job teaching Math the next year at a local high school that reminds me of the school I grew up in Louisiana (plus about 800 kids). Me and said girl got engaged but broke it off earlier this year two days before signing the papers. I’m staying back here because I have a good job and no real reason to leave yet. I really want to be a head track/cross country coach though so I may bounce around after this year depending on where I feel God is directing me and where I have opportunities.
