My company decided to leave Louisiana and head for Texas. I thought that sounded like a pretty good idea so I tagged along.

I never lived in one place for more than a few years until here. I liked living in different places but I can't stand the moving process. And that's with using moving services

I've lived in New Orleans, New York and Baton Rouge. I was single and didn't have so much shite during my previous moves.

I'm scouting for a location in about 6 years that the wife will approve of. I want out of the heat in the Deep South.

Realized Louisiana sucked, moved to Alaska, that sucked too but for different reasons. Moved to Tennessee, bounced around some after that and realized I liked it a lot in Tenn. Met my wife back in Tennessee and she won’t let me move out west to Colorado or Utah. So I’m stuck in Tennessee unless I want a divorce or get the in laws follow us, lol.

CA, AL, UT, GA, AZ, HI, WA, Germany, Korea, Kuwait(actual move, not deployment). In addition, I had one or more in-state/country moves in CA, AL, AZ, WA, and Germany. I'm over the shite. I can barely tolerate traveling anymore.

Same here.. couple of posters have mentioned Tennessee , that’s actually where i’m thinking of going.. the temps are much milder in the summer there than in the Deep South, and it’s only a one day drive from LSU & Saints games.,, I’m in TX now and it’s every bit as hot as any place in the Deep South.. they say its a drier heat but that makes zero difference.

Montana is fricking gorgeous. Especially the area around Glacier.

Mine:

- Couldn't get a job in Madison so I moved home to Green Bay and began firing resumes out to Chicago and Minneapolis
- Drove down for an interview in Chicago on a Thursday, offered the job on the spot, accepted Friday morning, started the following Monday
- Loaded up my '94 Dodge Intrepid with whatever I could pack in there (including an air bed borrowed from Bruco's family to sleep on); pulled out of the driveway with Mom crying watching me go because she was scared of what would happen to me in the big, scary city
- Stayed with family friends in the burbs for a week and then moved into a small hot studio apartment by Lakeshore Drive
- That was 2001

TL;DR - Chitown made shite happen because he needed to get his career going

It still gets hot as hell in Tennessee but summers should be shorter with more seasonal weather. My ideal climate is probably the PNW but I'll likely never get my wife that far from home. TN, VA or NC are probably my best bets.

I work from home currently and have to see customers from time to time- but if i ever get to be 100% remote, i’d probably move to Aruba or Grand Cayman and have to suffer with only making it to a couple of LSU and Saints games a year.

I've really liked Asheville when I've been. I'm not really a big city guy anymore so that would be right up my alley. We'll see. I'll be in BR for awhile. I've got a soon to be teenager so I've got other considerations at the moment.

Nice area. I grew up in Bozeman.

We moved from Baton Rouge to Knoxville in May. A company out of Salt Lake found my resume on Indeed and offered me a job working remotely with a $17k pay raise. When we got here my husband's job decided to let him work remotely for the rest of the year. So work wise it's been super easy.

So far we absolutely love it here. We were renting but broke our lease and closed on a house a week and a half ago. Just getting finished settling in.

We are closer to Farragut to get into the schools we wanted, but still an easy 15 minute ride to downtown.

My only moving story is having to live in a hotel for a week because the moving company broke down and the only thing my wife and I had packed ourselves was a few suitcases of clothes and what was in our fridge.

I would have loved to move to Montana, but my wife is from Bozeman and didn't want to move back to the cold.
