I think it's great that taxpayer funded land can actually be used by taxpayers. Golf courses coexist with nature, far more so than a commercial or residential development, or interstate. Government owned land can generate income instead of relying on taxpayer dollars for sustenance.

It is currently available for use by taxpayers.

More golf courses are better than more areas to breed boa constrictors.

The pickleball crowd are an interesting bunch. The parks in my area were completely redone two years ago and they added a pickleball court. Two tennis courts and a pickleball court, the pickleball people were pissed because tennis got two courts and they only got one. Evidently it was suggested to them they could use a tennis court if one is available and they needed an extra court, but that was not a reasonable solution to them because tennis would still take priority as for as those who play tennis are concerned..

I love golf and have played a lot of golf and love a beautifully maintained course. But a properly run golf course worth playing goes thru a shite ton of fertilizer and pesticides and requires a lot of water. Not sure that's the best thing to introduce into the ecosystem of a state park.
Well said.

Not a fan. We already have enough development. Rework existing areas

getting some proposed changes is Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound.

It would be terrible to frick with this state park by putting a golf course there. I doubt it happens. It’s a pristine area. I say this as a conservative Republican who lives in south Florida. This is bad idea. There’s way more land in the area that could be developed.

People in the area are not going to vote for this if it ever comes to a vote. Really not sure who had this idea as Dickinson is a huge mountain biking spot in the area. The park actually has a small amount of elevation change which for south Florida feels unique. There's enough golf courses around that this isn't necessary and now it's pissed off a lot of locals. People were out with picket fences earlier this week when driving by

Taxpayers shouldn’t have to subsidize poor people’s hobbies. The last thing Florida needs is more golf courses.

Someone doesn’t know much about Florida

Florida, particularly south Florida, may be the most ecologically fricked up part of the United States.

Hard Labor Creek is the best state park golf course in Georgia.

This is such a stupid idea.

Golf courses have been closing all over the state for the past 20 years because they were overbuilt plus the state parks already have high traffic and dont need a course to attract people.

Now developers want sweetheart deals in primo locations where the state builds maintains and pays for a money losing course so developers can build new developments on the fringes of the parks but tout their proximity to a course without having to pay for the course.

The location being pimped is in Jupiter which is a high dollar area so devs are getting a course for free.

There are 9 state parks being pimped. Hillsborough River State Park, Honeymoon Island, Oleta River, Jonathan Dickinson, Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson, Anastasia, Camp Helen, Topsail Preserve, and Grayton Beach.

eh, just more Mexican space rockets and call it a day.

BYOTP- bring your own toilet paper.

satisfies a need, not a want, and can always ship the pump out to TX panhandle for fertilizer.

If you’re talking about oak mountain in bham I agree. That’s a decent little course for a state park, surprisingly good greens and cheap. I need to get back out there

Man I’ll be honest, all for it. So many areas in Florida panhandle that are perfect for development but are considered state parks when it’s nothing but a big plot of pine trees. frick that shite, develop it into something awesome

A lot of folks think that an undeveloped, undisturbed plot of pine trees is something awesome. I don't look at a golf course and think to myself "man, that sure is awesome."
