Does Florida have a lot of nice state parks?
Yes.

It’s not really a topographical wonderland
No, but it is a hydrological, biological, and ecological wonderland.

hich isn't pavement, by the way, it's grass, water, and terrain and trees. Not exactly bad for nature.
Golf courses in some places make no sense at all from an ecological impact POV. I love golf, but there are courses around here that I wish didn't exist because of the water impact.
Florida? Go right ahead. Take more water.

Deforestation, habitat loss, water pollution, and destruction of fragile ecosystems are all consequences of gold courses.
If the majority are for it, then that is fine, but to draw this up behind closed doors without any public input is bullshite.

I love golf and have played a lot of golf and love a beautifully maintained course. But a properly run golf course worth playing goes thru a shite ton of fertilizer and pesticides and requires a lot of water. Not sure that's the best thing to introduce into the ecosystem of a state park.

Didn't Billy Nungesser want to build a fricking casino at Fontainebleau State Park?
Just a cover to add another buffet option for him when he travels.

DeSantis already took on the sugar industry and their pollution
He has a track record of caring for the environment

State parks shouldn’t be there only for local community nearest them. Their opinion on the matter should be no more considered than any other citizen in the state.

Golf courses are ok on any other land, just so long as it's not inside of a state park. Am I understanding your position correctly?

"The Department of Environmental Protection and the Division of Parks are looking at recommendations for ways to enhance Florida’s parks to make them more visitor-friendly."
"There will be multiple phases of public discussion to evaluate stakeholders' feedback. The agency’s initial recommendations are based on public input and proposals—from pickleball to golf to additional bike trails and camping access; the proposals vary and may not all be approved."
"Finally, recommendations will be evaluated, and no final decisions will be made until the public comment and review process has been completed."
"Teddy Roosevelt believed that public parks were for the benefit and enjoyment of the people, and we agree with him."
"No administration has done more than we have to conserve Florida’s natural resources, grow conservation lands, and keep our environment pristine. But it's high time we made public lands more accessible to the public."

Grayton and Topsail are both near me and folks are outraged - not because of spoiling nature, but because of the threat of adding a 350 room hotel and/or camping spots that might compete with their short term rentals.
It’s sad, really. The focus is on their pockets not the loss “Old Florida” state forest property. Nevermind that the customer base is different. I’m more concerned with the lack of infrastructure.

The park in OP is by Jupiter Beach, many hours away. Are there other links out there to say what other parks, particularly on the panhandle, have plans for hotels and golf courses?

~1,250 courses in the state (leads the country)
Water issues run rampant across the state from fertilizer…
~30 golf courses within 20 miles of that particular state park
Yet more courses are needed? Am I understanding your position correctly?

If people can't get tee times, then 1250 obviously isn't enough. Are Florida golf courses struggling right now?
You said there's 30 within 20 miles, do you think some of those should be closed down? Who needs 30 golf courses all within 20 miles.

In GA, I have noticed the less developed a state park is, the trashier and shittier it's visitors. More litter, illegal dumping, campsites with spent needles, garbage in the lake, etc.
Last time I was in Florida I went to play disc golf by a course close to where I was staying.
I like the set up of the course but it wasn’t kept up at all.
And so what do you find back in there a long the way? Empty liquor bottles, needles, used condoms.

I was unaware this was actually solved, and that's weird... because a childhood neighbor is the lead engineer on the Okeechobee army corp o' engineering project they have going on.

There’s some local, wannabe jerkoff down here in Fort Lauderdale. He’s always fighting against pickleball courts and other city council meeting itinerary.
Dude needs a new hobby.
