Holding people accountable to weed out the bad ones and punish crimes committed by the police is a great start, but many of these people are just not prepared to do the job the public is asking them to do
I hold my nose and vote republican because of the 2nd amendment, but they are barely better than the statist democrats. They are statist as well, especially on this. Those people doing 1st and 4th amendment video audits on government and their armed enforcers are true patriots.

I think the “Phoenix Police” announcement was plenty loud.
Anyone can knock on the door and yell “Phoenix PD” and hide out of view of the peephole. For all he knew it could have been 2 thugs with a possible home invasion scenario. Instead it was 2 thug cops that took his life for no reason!

Why did the cop blind the guy with the light? Then to not let the women try to help is so disheartening. Was an ambulance even called?

This is totally ridiculous. Even with body cams, they lie about the events. The guy never came at them, the gun was pointed down, and he was going down to his knees to surrender.

Which is why I wrote the last part of my post. Don’t open the door if you don’t know who it is. I don’t really disagree with you.

What we're seeing is the result of a bottom-tier desired job requiring top-tier life and death responsibilities.
And there really isn’t any way of fixing that. It’s just not feasible for many towns/cities and some states to up the pay and make the job more desirable.
Even assuming pay increases, not many people wanna deal with idiotic people and still having to make split second decisions.

Absolutely despicable video. Welcome to modern America: where your neighbors don't mind their own goddamn business, where the cops will kill you for no reason and where the media doesn't give a damn because you're a working class white guy. And we wonder why so many disillusioned young white men are going crazy.

Another example of the divide between a legally justified vs. morally wrong Officer involved shooting.
Legally, police officers are afforded the right to REASONABLY defend themselves the second they REASONABLY perceive a threat. Sometimes that allows the preemptive use of force prior to the facing the actual threat. Any stronger of a standard and you will have present day Portland and lawlessness because very few would be willing to serve and risk their lives for such little return.
The use of force, the officers handgun, against someone armed with a handgun is reasonable. However, the issue here much like in most of these controversial Officer involved shootings will be whether or not the threat the officer faced, armed suspect appearing to be complying from one angle, was reasonable.
Facing off with an armed suspect at ready gun is scary as frick. It takes years to learn the discipline it takes not to over react. There are a million factors that ultimately led to the officer shooting in this case.
Yes, dynamic scenario based training helps. But I would be willing to bet that with an agency as large as Phoenix this officer has received more training than the average officer has.
The victim played with fire and lost. I am not taking away from the neglect the officer showed, but let's not ignore the ever present pink elephant in the room.

Tough to watch. Lot of internet hardasses in here though.
The victim answered the door expecting to chew someone out with his gun, and it was horrible timing.
There’s probably 100s of similar instances every year that don’t end like this. Unfortunately there’s a small percentage of time that bad stuff happens

he did. he turned around to put his gun on the ground when the cop shot him. if that were my relative that was killed, I would personaly shoot the cop myself!

I can’t see a good reason to not have a doorbell cam or front door cam these days. Literally would have been a life saver

That video just made me really sad for some reason. It doesn’t look like the best area so it’s hard to be mad at the guy for answering the door with a gun. I guess walking out was a mistake. But what the frick was the second cop thinking? Dude was clearly going down to his knees and holding the gun away from his body (almost looked like he was putting it down), and old boy just popped him point blank.
Dude gets shot and says “I’m gonna die,” and then the sounds he’s making as he groans to death we’re just disturbing and sad. He went from (apparently) making salsa with his girl to “I’m gonna die,” (and actually dying) in a matter of like one minute. That’s terrible.

"The Phoenix Police Department knew from the night of the shooting that this was a false and exaggerated 911 call," Matthew Cunnigham said.
The caller complained about people screaming at each other and said he couldn't go to sleep because of the noise. In a second call to 911, he alleges that the screaming had escalated into a physical fight.
Sounds like this guy & his girlfriend were having a loud, intense sexual escapade while the upstairs neighbor was either jealous or upset about all that racket. ,

I just watched the video with the 911 calls. The upstairs neighbor was a bitch. You can tell he was lying about it being a domestic violence dispute. He was obviously upset about the noise coming from the downstairs apartment & only told the dispatcher during his second call that the dispute sounded like it turned violent in order to get the police there quicker.

Think this through. If someone is outside your door ready to do harm at 10 at night are they going to knock?
frick yes. They knock to see if anyone is home. Or to get the door open with minimal effort.

Lemme get this straight. A person that is exercising his constitutionally protected right, never brings the gun onto a target, starts kneeling down, is shot in the back in the process and that is playing with fire? When a cop gets to fire at someone just because they have a gun in their hand then there really isn't a right to bear arms anymore.
