re: 115 Optimax Cooling Issues - dawg23
Eta: it's in the 2nd to lowest hole. I guess I could drop it down, wouldnt I be losing water pressure if that was the issue though? Should I just do a push on the trailer and see if I get buzzed?
Those questions are waaay beyond my limited knowledge. I do use (and trust) David Wade...

re: Outboard rebuild? - dawg23
FWIW - Quite a few years ago, over a period of not that many years, I had several engines rebuilt. They never held up (on a bass boat) for me. Granted, these were 4 cylinder OMCs, not a six cylinder Mercury like yours. And I understand that a NIB 250 Mercury is gonna cost a whole lot more ...

Found this one on Amazon - it had pretty high rating. [link=(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K8S242Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)]LINK[/link]...

You're right - this thread has moved quite a ways from its intent and now is going in debating point circles. Did you take a wrong turn in life and become a lawyer ?...

re: Official 1911 Thread - dawg23
Nice looking weapon. I have three 1911's (maybe four - have think about it). But I don't claim to have any expertise whatsoever with them. OP's weapon looks good to me, too. But again, I don't claim to know anything about 1911's....

I have a couple of photos, but literally have no experience in posting/hosting sites for images. I may be able to describe it: * It's an empty "cube" cabinet opening into which the original microwave oven was slid. * The "cube" is the size of a 2.0 cubic ft. oven -- 24" wide, 13" tall and ...
Then I guess I don't know what you mean when you say there are two handguns to consider, that how a firearm fits a user doesn't matter, and that a Glock should be everyone's choice because police officers carry them.
Thought I explained it. As you pointed out, I listed half a doze...

Buckeye: I'm a slow typist, so thanks for bearing with me. I agree with almost everything you posted, but I'm confused by one of your comments. 1. When you say, "[i]I don't agree. What did we do before law enforcement and military dudes started marketing their brands of shooting the "r...

re: Recommendations on middle of the road pistol for personal defense, no CC - dawg23
Wasn't meant as any sort of trump card. I'm under-trained compared to a lot of folks. But I believe that a complete absence of training (other than self-training) can lead to misplaced or over-confidence. I'm surprised you'd think Clint Smith, Tom Givens or Jerry Miculek as gun trainers, or Ayoob...
I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps as an 0321 and 8531. I used my weapons in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, and other places. My unit spent a lot of money sending me to various training courses. As a civilian, I shoot about 2,000 rounds of 9mm and 5.56 every month, and sometimes more. I also sh...
This is dumb. Why would I need or even want a training class? How is that going to change your misplaced reliance on things that aren't really important? I'm not the one with a problem here.
I'll say it again -- you're smarter than that. I've decided you're just trolling in this thr...

"Woodworking" Tool...Is a "power chisel" the right tool for my project? - dawg23
Not really "woodworking" -- need to remove a small length (maybe 16" long) of 2x4 that cabinet maker glued into the base of the opening that our microwave over sits in. Apparently it was glued in to make a snug fit for the microwave -- now the microwave has died (after 20 years) and every oven w...
Those classes are a joke and nothing but a way for them to bring in revenue. They're designed for Atari commandos that somehow think 2 days of training will prepare them for a self defense situation.
Maybe you'd also be willing to share your experience....
No offense, but you seem like exactly the type of person a lot of that training is marketed for. Don't believe everything they tell you. A lot of those guys are teaching methods that will let them stand out in what has become a very saturated market. Also, when they give you their opinions, k...

re: Recommendations on middle of the road pistol for personal defense, no CC - dawg23
There are three common ways for people to learn about firearms - (1) movies/TV shows, (2) gun magazines, and (3) the internet. The 4th (less common) way, is to take a two-day or three-day training class with a highly respected trainer. I'm gonna guess you haven't tried that last method. So...
