Doesn't Canada change a week earlier in Fall? Maybe Halloween works better for them when it's dark and spooky?

I’ve concluded that people who wake up after 7am don’t care about when the sun rises.

Split the difference and change it 30 minutes. Then everyone can have something to complain about.

Im American living in Southeast Asia, I really hope the US goes to full-time Daylight Saving Time.. for a lot of reasons, but mainly for those of us who work in finance, the US stock market for me opens now at 8:30pm, starting next week (due to DST ending) it'll be 9:30pm.. soon ill travel to a different SE Asian country that's an hour ahead so US market open time will be 10:30pm.. for purely selfish reasons, id like the earlier open to be permanent .. I realize there's a new overnight session starting next month, but I dont think the trading will be as robust in that overnight (daytime for me) session for a while til they work out the kinks .

We used to do that. In 2005, they moved the shift back to the first Sunday in November. Halloweens growing up were always in the dark for us. Now, at least where I live, sunset is around 6:30. That's pretty late to start Trick or Treating for pre-school kids.

, but it’s simply too dark in the mornings.

Whats wrong with that? People like driving into the blinding sun? I would much prefer more light in the evening

Driving home in dark at 515 is much better

Kids should not have to be in pitch black waiting for the bus at 7 AM. Grow up and stop thinking about only yourself. Other things are happening in the world.

You don't think kids have to wait for the bus in pitch black at 7am during standard time?

It is a big country. Maybe you ought to travel a bit and realize that there is more out there than your tiny bubble.

If some kids can do night at the bus stop, why can't other kids?

don't care which one we pick but we need to pick one and stay with it. In polls, it's clear Americans want the clock changing to completely stop

Unfortunately this....just follow this thread...

Logically speaking, it makes sense to do away w DST all together and stay on standard time like most of the other world. But you have other Americans arguing to stay on DST year round.

If changing our clocks twice a year has this many people riled up and it's that big of a deal to them, we've gone soft as a country.

Than it will still be just as dark at 8 AM...

Georgia is going to solve this problem for ourselves.

If Congress doesnt make daylight savings permanent, state legislature can change to central time zone.

Then we can be like Arizona and Hawaii and not have to change midyear and keep our late sunsets

Wouldn't we have to move the other way to Atlantic Standard Time?

If we move to Central Standard Time our winter sunsets get even earlier and our summer sunsets an hour earlier as well. Move to Atlantic and we are in sync with the east coast during the summer and ahead of them by an hour in winter.

But I think I read that we would have to get permission from the Department of Commerce or something to do that.

There's way too many people who don't know the difference. It's somewhat alarming.

Or maybe just travel west a few hours without changing time-zones. It absolutely is dark at 7 a.m.

I'm in central AR and have to leave my house at 6:45 to take my kid to school (her school starts at 7:30 a.m.), it was still completely dark when we left. Sun JUST started coming up right about 7.
