Cremation because I don’t want to take up space when I’m dead and gone.

To hell with the expense of a burial, especially in the state of La. where the funeral directors have a lock on the business of burying folks. People are looking at close to $10K for a funeral and burial plot with a headstone now.
Had a family member die unexpectedly. She had (numerous times) expressed a severe disdain for the funeral business in general and the legally mandated arse raping in LA in particular. I volunteered to handle the cremation for the family as a tribute to her. I expected it to be like buying a used car but I was completely unprepared for the level of pressure and salesmanship they put on me. I went in with the intention of demanding the absolutely cheapest method possible and stuck to my guns. They were PISSED at the funeral home.
Louisiana sets a maximum charge that they can bill you for the cremation itself. They make their money off of the urn / box and other bullshite. No matter what service or product they offered my answer was "NO" and I just kept telling them to cremate her and put her in a cardboard box or whatever the state mandated. They kept pushing, it was both comical and infuriating. After a good hour they gave up and went with the $249 minimum (or whatever it was, I can't remember). I picked her up (they kept offering the "service" of delivering the remains for some ridiculous amount) and they had her in a clear plastic bag inside a small cardboard box. They actually put a sticker with the name of the funeral home on the box as advertising (I guess?).

at one point in my life I wanted the full field-grade sendoff at Arlington, then I went to one for a co-worker and got turned off on the idea...
my daughters have been told to cremate me and put me in the family grave by their infant sister

Nice gesture. I'm usually kind of a smart arse, but there's nothing I want to say here.

cremation. In this day, there's 0 reason to spend that kind of money on a funeral.

It really doesn't matter, you are going to be dead.

I'm an organ donor, so whatever is left will be sent to the crematorium.

My now late mother-in-law prepaid for her cremation as she was getting up in age and had health issues and the same thing happened with her. Good thing my wife and her other daughter were with her at the time or they would have milked her dry.
Then, once she died, she couldn't be cremated right away since she had living children who all had to send a notarized paper stating they had no objection to her being cremated. This process delayed things just over a week since 4 of her 7 kids lived out of state.
It's total BS to have to jump through hoops when trying to deal with the loss of a family member and dealing with the red tape involved.
My late father-in-law donated his body to LSU's Medical School and they came out and picked him up right away. However, it took just over 3 years to receive his cremated remains back after his death.
Now, if you want a straight up funeral, complete with coffin, viewing, ride to a church for a funeral mass and then on to the cemetery for burial----no such issues, just pay the piper. fricking vultures is all they are.

Cremation.
Embalming is pretty morbid when you think about it.

Cremation.
It's ridiculous to me that people actually purchase real estate to store their rotting corpse.

I want my remains to go back into the eco-system. Bury me in a casket and let all the bugs and worms to feed on my rotting corpse.

Cremation. I told my family to do whatever they want with the ashes. All that spreading the ashes shite is to make the living feel better so they can choose where to toss me.
