Burial would be more fun if it wasn’t relegated to cemeteries.

Now, if you want a straight up funeral, complete with coffin, viewing, ride to a church for a funeral mass and then on to the cemetery for burial----no such issues, just pay the piper.

Yep...my mom died unexpectedly in New Orleans. She had to be "delivered" to the funeral home in Baton Rouge. We had to go in and handle everything in a bit of a shock. Had to find someone to give the service. Then she had to be delivered to Arkansas where she wanted to be buried, so we had to pay for transport and for a licensed funeral director to take custody of the body.

The transport was running behind and she was late to her own burial. I know she was pissed because she was never late for anything.

I don't even remember what we ended up paying but it was greater than $15K. I did get a $75 refund because we had overpaid a little. At least they sent it back to us.

My will states that I will have a Darth Vadar type funeral. Burn my body over a open fire while all of my friends get drunk and watch.

Cremation for me. I just watch my elderly father spend a bazillion dollars on the right casket and so on. He's not dead yet.
Why does every white Scottish,Irish person want bagpipes at their funeral?

Which would you rather for yourself?

Honestly, it doesn't matter to me at all. Everything that happens to your body after your death is solely for the benefit/healing of your loved ones. I plan to leave enough money for them to do whatever they chose and instructions telling them that I am perfectly happy with whatever decision they make. My personal preference would be to donate the useful organs and cremate the rest, simply because that is the most practical route.

Already bought and paid for the whole funeral and crypt. My kids won't have to be bothered, just put "my plan" into motion. Whole shooting match cost me about 12K. My kids will thank me later. With the cost of funeral expenses rising at a rate of 8% a year, it's a good investment to look into.
