The widow thing is tough.

That’s sometimes harder on a woman than a divorce. In a divorce, she was probably at least pissed at the guy and ready to get rid of him.

A widow however, takes a lonnnnnng time to let go of him if they were still in love when he passed. A different set of problems I guess.

You're a little long in the tooth for a young widow.

that's obviously not necessarily true.

Plus, you would always have the ex-husband to deal with.

This is a good point.

I can't believe the (almost literal) cucks on here. You really want to raise another man's kids?

A good woman is a good woman, the way I see it.

I wouldn’t write someone off immediately if they were widowed, divorced, or a single mom. Life happens.

If someone decides not to, it better be because of the kids. Same with divorce. Otherwise you're missing out on potential. I'd have never found my person if I limited myself to the OT standards.

I'm divorced with kids and so is she. But I dated a girl in her early 30s, no kids before I met the woman I'm with now. I'm glad it didn't work out.

I married one. She had one kid.

Been together for 14 years.

She's 8 years my junior. She's a nurse and I'm retired. No pics.

Well frick you too.

I would have said that there is a chance but it would have to be special circumstances. Like one of the kids is biologically mine already.

If you want to always be compared to the dead husband/father then sure go for it.

That would be my biggest concern with a young widow.

A chick having an ex who’s a POS can have some drawbacks, but the former husband being Superman in the eyes of your wife and stepkids isn’t exactly ideal either.

So date? Maybe so. Marry? No.

Maybe, lots of factors.

I dated a woman who had 2 kids, but she was still close to her ex, and I didn't want the drama

Unless you marry a virgin you're going to be compared to someone else.

Upside to a widow is you know she's marriage material. She's already been vetted. Divorced means she struck out once and maybe it really is his fault, but you're only hearing her side.
