I think it's fine. 1 day a week to find a babysitter. Wish my company would go to 4-day work week.

The district will do it for $30 a week, per kid. So $120 a month, per kid.
yes for 1200 of the 18000 kids in the district

Do you have any idea of the cost of childcare? 1 day a week can easily be a car payment
55% of school districts in Colorado utilize the 4 day school week.
This is only news because a bunch of fat teachers in Oklahoma and some other state no one cares about are marching for better pay.

Only $30, if you send them to "daycare" at school that day.
$30 per student, with 18,000 students in district, AND a 3 day weekend

Multiple schools around me in southwest MO have done this for a few years now. They’ve done a ton of studies/surveys and a majority of the parents have been surprisingly pleased with the format.
I remember when I was a kid, there was talk of year-round school, but that never really went anywhere.

I am sure the parents will love finding/paying some entity to watch their kid on the 5th business day
the solution is to make a 4-day work week.
As if Colorado wasn't awesome enough.

How am I supposed to enjoy all of this legal weed if I now have to watch my brat kids for an extra day of the week. Thanks Obama.

A main complaint in this thread being "who's going to look after my kids now?" says a lot about our education system. We've talked about AI going after drivers, cashiers, even parts of the legal and medical professions, but I don't think teaching is ever brought up. AI can end up being superior teachers and your little rugrats will be at home 7 days a week.
Not only can they pick up on biological/physiological queues better than a human in charge of 40 students would, they can customize their teaching methods and material based on how the individual students learn. This one size fits all education system does a disservice to most.

Step in the right direction, hopefully will start a movement in the corporate world as well. There's almost no reason for a 5 day work week anymore.
I'm not an environment guy either but I think taking one day away from the work commute would do wonders to our carbon footprint and increase home lives

Man I wish they would have had this when I was in school out there growing up.
An extra day in the mountains each week would have been great.

Think it’s an awesome idea. Have kids actually study hard for 4 days instead of trudging along 5 days a week.

I suppose its dependent upon which industry people work in, but I could do my job everyday from home. And my work email is on my phone, and by god I better answer my email at 8pm.

I could not work all day every day from home, but there are entire days I could easily work from home, and other days I could work from home with the exception of physically going to a meeting or two. A lot of the meetings I do go to could easily be virtual.

Four-day school day works great in caldwell parish. Honestly.

yes, kids today are so intelligent and well rounded, they need less time in school!
Hell, don't even send them. Just give em an Ipad or IPhone and tell them to get after it.

I don't know how I feel about this. It seems like corporate America will need to change to a 4 day workweek for this to work.

As much as it would suck to lose summer vacation it would be a hell of a lot better for students to go to school that way.

Careful now. This sounds like something Betsy DeVos would love. Can't give her any more bad ideas.
