Nah, that was posted out of frustration from a teacher's standpoint. Frustration from what you're looked at as being from many parents' point of view, not saying that you are a member of that group.

Ah, gotcha. No need to explain, my wife was a high school science teacher. I've heard all the bitching and I sympathize.

We have a district like that in Louisiana. My first year out of colllege I taught there. It was great. Our scores went through the roof.

So, you don't think that anything can be implemented for Mondays
Of course it can be, who would say any difference. I will still be a major PITA for the parents.

I wonder what all the school systems that are already using the four day week are doing?

I dont know. Probably something that is a major PITA for the parents.

I'm not sure what that has to do with better educating children and/or better utilizing tax payers money. I'm not really sure why anyone would be against this. Use less tax payer resources and not have kids holed up in a classroom for an extra day.

The same people arguing against this will argue for a 4 day work week for themselves tomorrow. They just want someone to babysit their kids.

Also, teachers and students in Finland are not expected to be at school when they do not have a class. For example, if they don’t have any afternoon classes on Thursdays, they (both teachers and students) can simply leave. Or if their first class on a Wednesday starts at 11:00, they don’t have to be at school until that time.

While this sounds like a decent idea, would create havoc for kids that rely on the bus to get to and from school.

Who is this supposed to benefit, other than teachers and admin, in theory? Will just end up costing parents more money, and for what?

My guess would be one less day each week for them to have to run buses and feed the students breakfast and lunch. Lot of overhead there.

And more than likely PE and recess have been cut out so those kids cant release that energy. There’s no way any learning is being done those extra 40 min each day. By that point they’re mentally burned out.

Every school should do this. My daughter is in 8th grade and has tons of busy work.

The State of Texas changed school calendars from 180-plus days to 76,500 minutes.

Apparently that small change allowed other Texas education laws to mesh, and definitely has given schools more flexibility.
