So far still dry. Wanted to whip up a cocktail last night but declined.

I caved and had a few beers last night.

Why?

Maybe because challenging yourself and accomplishing difficult tasks builds a stronger mind and body.

Ive done Dry January 3 years running now and easily the hardest part is that first weekend. If you can get through that first one the rest aren't so bad.

This my fifth DJ, and I agree. The first week into the weekend is the hardest. The hardest thing ever for me was the LSU championship game. I drank Heineken 0.0 through that.

I will say the NA beer scene has come a long, long way, even from when I first started doing DJ. They make stuff that actually tastes like good beer. Athletic Brewing makes some pretty good stuff that is widely available. Another good substitute is unflavored sparkling water with a dash of bitters.

Bitters has alcohol in it. Weird I know but trust me they do.

1 ml of bitters makes the sparkling water about 0.1% abv, whereas NA beer has about 0.5% ABV. Hell, store bought orange juice has about half a percent of ABV in it.

To abstain from alcohol completely is near impossible. It is in many everyday food products.

Post weekend check in…hope everyone is still going strong!

Still going here, and getting easier and easier. Hardly even think about it. Feeling great, sleeping better, and a lot more energy.

I want to quit drinking for a while too. It's been too much. Only problem is have a wedding and two concerts to go to in the next few weeks so it would be kind of hard. Not even including Mardi Gras in a month.

There’s always gonna be something. Birthdays, trips, holidays, football etc. you just gotta do it. And you’ll be glad you did.

You’ll also be surprised at how much you still enjoy those things even without booze.

This is my second year to do it (drank on new years watching LSU but none since)
Felt really good last year after doing it. Was sleeping much better. Actually didn’t miss EtOH for the second half of the month. Found myself more productive. My first couple beers in Feb made me feel like a lightweight

Still dry here. Really starting to enjoy less anxiety, better sleep and overall better evenings.
Bonus, I have not had a soft drink in 2024 yet either.
Business trip to Vegas next week. If I stumble, it will be there. If I do I will make up for it in February.

This past March I decided to see if could do 100 days alcohol free.

Haven’t had a drink since. Hit the 9 month mark Christmas Eve. And I feel great. Don’t really miss it. My goal now is to do a full year.

March 10th for me.

Hitting 10 months Wednesday.

Best I've felt in well over a decade.

Still Dry. The hangover from NYE was so horrible I didn't drink on New Years which made watching the game semi frustrating. First time ever doing it. This past weekend was tough.

Still going strong. Even went to a dinner party Saturday with lots of wine. Just had 2 non alcoholic Beck’s and some sparkling water. It’s nice waking up on a Monday feeling great.

Still rolling dry here and feeling great! Saturday afternoon was a struggle sitting on the patio next to the firepit but I made it.

Made it through the first weekend. Had to meet a friend at my local dive bar yesterday to give him some fantasy football money we won. Had a Heineken 0.0. I may be out of the woods. My goal is my first drink will be at the lobby bar of the Peabody in Memphis on February 9th when I go to visit my daughter who is in college.
