A man of culture I see. Although I agree with the poster further down that the RB comes pretty damn close, if you're able to get your hands on one over here.

My first car was a 1990 240SX. Pretty reliable, definitely a fun car to drive. Sideways if you wanted to.

The VQ40 used in the 2005-20 frontier is excellent.
However the 2005-11 frontiers have an issue with coolant leaking into the transmission oil via the oil cooler and destroying the transmission—only on automatics. They fixed it in 2012 I think

I had a 2003 Frontier with the 3.3L six cylinder. Loved the truck. Timing belt issue killed it. My mechanic said that it was a common issue with that engine.

Most of them are pretty reliable. Black people are smart in that regard.

As has been said, about as close to a bulletproof 6 as you can buy.
Not sure about the very latest iterations, but the original design won awards for many years running.
ETA; corrected for accuracy, quoted the wrong post.

The VQ30DE, was on Ward's 10 Best Engines for a long time. Had a 1995 Maxima, the engine was by far the best thing about that car.

The only SUV or truck they came in was older Pathfinders.
I believe they were also in the infinity QX4 older models from like 2002... Was a very high end Nissan Pathfinder.
Bulletproof.

I had forgotten that, really blocked it out of my mind. I always thought that the Infiniti version of that Nissan was a visual downgrade. It did have a better interior, if was during the time Carlos Ghosn turned Nissan interiors into a plastic wasteland.

I had a 2011 frontier with the 4.0. Crew cab. That thing would run like a scalded ape.

The '86 Hardbody with the Z engine (4cyl) was a great truck and kind of changed the small truck market. It was heavier and more substantial than the Yotas, Couriers, and Mazdas of the era, and more powerful too. Gas mileage kind of sucked compared to the others, but it was a nicer vehicle, and dependable too.
Nissan had a nice 6 cyl that it put in the Maxima and a few other vehicles.

The VQ engine (35 or 40) is rock solid.
I prefer the VQ40, it's a lot peppier than the 35

Most of their engines are great motors if maintenance is kept up, it’s the transmission’s that have been their downfall.

The old Maximas went forever

I feel like I have picture somewhere of my Xterra towing a small excavator.
Tires and rear springs were upgraded. Trailer had brakes. But it was still more than double the tow rating.
Hell I towed a modded 4 seater RZR with about 1000lbs of camping gear over monarch pass in colorado.

Yea and he probably smoked the clutches in that auto trans. Those don’t have trans coolers or big enough clutch packs on them to be hauling that kind of weight. I’d think max would be 5000 tow weight max on those and any excavator plus trailer is over that.

I had a 1997 Maxima. Loved that car and it went over 250k miles with no problems.

There used to be 20+ year old Datsuns all over the place and last forever. Then they decided to add all the fancy shite and kinda became crap

As long as they keep making the I-6 family they will be a perennial Ward's lister. The S54 is still very close to the top of my list of production engines.
