But that is probably bc we put an aftermarket supercharger in it.
It’s your fuel map, it’s got a nasty hole.

Their 4.0 v6 did me 200k+ and still going. 2nd Gen Xterra.

I’m thinking their in-line 6 cyl, 2800cc…

Gen 2 of xterra are bullet proof..Gen one had lots of issues and a smaller engine. I owned two. The last was a 2015.
Frontier in recent years is a good truck.
Armada with exception of some mid to late teen years run 250 to 350 k miles i owned an 2008, 2012 and a 2024.

Pretty funny seeing comments that Xterra's sucked but the Frontier is good!
The 4.0L Nissan Xterra (2005–2015, 2nd Generation) is a rugged, truck-based SUV powered by a 4.0-liter VQ40DE V6 engine producing 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque
The Nissan Frontier 4.0L refers to the 4.0-liter VQ40DE V6 engine, which was the primary power plant for the second-generation Frontier (2005–2019/2020). It produces 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, offering solid towing capability (up to 6,300 lbs).

it’s the transmission’s that have been their downfall.

A buddy had one in high school- we went out and got DRUNK DRUNK, and I had to drive home the next day. The clutch on that damn truck was so tough- I couldn’t get used to it.
I got my 18 year old a 2012 Xterra because I was sure that it was the same platform as the Frontier that would run forever. So far, so good- it’s got 130K on it and has been a great vehicle for him by so far. My hope is that he can get to at least 200K on it

Nissan's 3.5L that was in its Maximas from 2000-2024 were pretty bullet proof. Same for the 3.7L that went inti their Infiniti sedans/coupes.

I bought a E39 5 series brand new in 2002. Loved that car. It replaced my two seater ZX. Traded it for a 2014 X5. The X5 was in the shop more than I actually drove it during the first year. I polished it up and sold it to the next unwitted victim. It still had a manufacture warranty so I didn't feel too bad.

Indeed a low point for BMW reliability...
They've improved QC and design elements significantly since then. Bought a new 2019 X5 4.4 and a new 2025 X5 4.4 and no issues with either one (so far).

Something was up with the coil packs. It would go to limp mode out of the blue. It happened 3 times in the 11 months I owned it. BMW serviced under warranty one last time and i ditched that dog.
My car was an xDrive50i. Top of the line without going to the M series. 2012 model year I bought from a dealer in early 2014.

Yeah that was my answer until I realized he wanted this century

Another low point you mean. BMW has some true stinkers in terms of reliability and maintenance for some of their engines as well as some of their fancier bells and whistles for handling. 850 CI anyone? When I was In Germany in the early 2000's, every taxi was a gasser BMW 3-series or a diesel MB, same with the hand-me-down cars that were sold and resold to service members as they rotated in and out of country. Cars that could not only keep running with only minimal maintenance but their interiors held up too.

Get a 2021-2022 Highlander. They had a 295 hp 6, and an 8-speed auto. trans. You can still be rolling around in it 25 years from now.
