I did black and white in my first home a long time ago. High gloss black and Ultra bright white. Looked great at first, then your realize how hard it is to keep clean. Saw the same thing with the stainless steel appliance folks in what the 90's, just sat back and waited.

And in her defense, she always added lots of natural elements. Whether it be exposed wood or leather, etc. I never remember her doing anything that looked operating room sterile and shiny.

The bland outside wasn't enough for these people, so they decided they wanted their lives to be void of all color.

For the past four years I have worked with an architect and the architect's interior designer on a few projects.

When you see all that white on the interior, its because the owner is too cheap to hire a real designer, his wife is doing it herself, he has champagne taste on a beer budget, or is indecisive on what to do so they just go all white as its safe and it can re-sell.

If you think that what you see in these pics are expensive, a designer that has unique tastes and skills to design each room with a theme, proper flow, color schemes, etc is through the roof.

What pisses me off the most is a so called luxury custom home which has basic exterior features and little to no landscaping/hardscaping/lighting.

That looks like the Toll Brother houses in the Canopy in Houston. If you put the garage on the right and made the staircase round that was our house and floor plan.

Two of my neighbors, several blocks away, did this. The homes had beautiful brick and stone exteriors, now they look like shite.

Frequently reference this or some of its peer articles about the drastic loss of color across a ton of metrics

Out of curiosity-why would this bother you?

What other people do to their own homes.

I feel like the Gaines houses were more farmhouse tin roof with shiplap than what your picture shows.

But I agree with you otherwise, all over the richest parts of Dallas they are tearing down old homes and building this big new white stucco homes. Idk how well they will last.

Black windows are pretty dumb in a place where there's endless uv. The black window fad really hurts my soul, turning homes into commercial looking buildings, and increasing the cost of your own upkeep, all so you can copy off every other cheeseball.
