Ahh yes, the civil right of taxation without representation. Just what our founding fathers desires when they laid down and accepted their taxes paying for bridges and committee meetings in London.

So is this just how elections work now? Cry, start investigations, sue, riot etc. if your side lost?

Right up until the point the armed rebellion starts.

I'm surprised it took this long.

It ensures that JBE will not have to name the city's first officials until after the election. He can then frick St. George as hard as he wants with his appointments with zero blowback because the election will have already been settled one way or the other.

Good news is that one side can’t hit anything because they will have the gun sideways.

True story, she once had a "meat pie" restaurant on Government at Foster called MOPS.

This is what happens when black folks realize they are losing white people’s money.

Are they not proving the reasons why the City Parish form of government does not truly represent the unincorporated parish along with the other cities?

Are they not proving BR is taking everyone else’s money to balance its budget?

There should be a lawsuit proving this form of government is not representing the unincorporated areas along with the other cities equally.

If I send them an email about my ditch was promised to be cleaned with a work order and now it is not being cleaned.

Would that show up in the lawsuit?

Would the court force EBRP DPW to clean it in the next 50 years since it has a work order?

Could St George show how BR excluded residential areas since the early 1980’s by annexing businesses while not annexing the neighborhoods around it?

Florida Blvd East where they took in Florida Blvd while excluding River Oaks due to a past council man did not want to pay city taxes who lived in the neighborhood.

yes. it's a spoliation letter. if these documents become an issue in discovery and they've been lost/destroyed, you will have a bad day. if you don't send a notice, it's possible they can claim they didn't anticipate litigation prior to being served, which will excuse the behavior sometimes

It can even make your day long and aggravating if the documents were destroyed prior to receiving the notice. It’s partially why some larger companies use third parties at times to destroy document (besides the manpower issues). Then you have documented dates by a third party.

I think it can still get dicey if the court feels you did that in anticipation of the litigation but I am not a lawyer, just been through a similar situation so I may have this a little twisted.

They have an argument that incorporating SG hurts BR.

They're going to have a hard time with that argument. SG is only keeping less than 5% of the total City Parish budget.

Do you think River Oaks will try to annex into St. George?

I didn’t say it was a GOOD argument.

Basically, BR can’t budget for shite and has been using the money from the unincorporated parts of the parish, mainly St George, to balance those budgets.

Them making that argument also opens the counter-argument that the city-parish merger is a fraud because it means BR is using all non-BR areas as tax colonies to balance their own budget.

We need to make it public all the individuals who are suing to stop SG, they shouldn’t be allowed to hide behind Broome and the C-P government.

What happened to MOP’s pledge to work for the city pro bono? Did she overload her self?

I hope this whole thing backfires in BR's face and the city must repay millions to the StG area for money stolen to provide for the city of BR.
