An attorney “representing Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome” has put officials with the city of St. George on notice that a lawsuit is coming soon
On what grounds? (other than that St. George won, that is)

Yes, and the neutral grounds are getting street lights.
I know right where it is, use to live in Shenandoah.
Great neighborhood.

I'm surprised it took this long.

Broome probably didn't want to do it last week, she was too busy.

Darryl Gissel saying that private donors are paying for the legal fees:
Gissel: Third party donors to pay for Broome’s legal challenge to St. George
quote:
“In the aftermath of the vote, we have had lots of people come forward who have offered to help with legal fees,” he says. “There will be an outside fund that will pay for this.”
Gissel couldn’t say who might be chipping in to help pay for what could be months or years of legal bills.

My guess on who those private owners are-
John Enquist
Gessel
Jim Bailey
Ross Reilly
MA Ross
Hans Sternberg
Elizabeth “Boo” Thomas
James Usher
Sen. John Breaux
John Noland
Those are the major donors to the anti-StG mailers, per the LA Board of Ethics. Most, if not all, of them are connected to the BR Area Foundation and BR Chamber.

Don't forget Richard Lipsey.

Lipsey wasn’t on the list I saw, probably because he founded his own groups instead of donating to the one those chucklefricks were using.
As someone put it, we had a bunch of rich white folks spending a ton of money to call middle class white folks racist.

In America the will of the people rules. Unless those in power don't like the will of the people. Then of course the people are unjust and need to be saved from themselves.

Is there some ordinance that those funds must be delegated through the proper channels and voted on before they can be allocated for a specific use? It's still taxpayer money, even if they do oppose St. George.

It appears the parish can sue without C-P Council approval if the mayor decides to proceed and she can get private funding.

How is that legal?

I would imagine the names of the donors would have to be legally declared.
Which would make for an interesting media push about how the BRAC and BRAF are spending thousands out of their businesses and their own pockets to fight St George.

“This is not some sour grapes deal,” he says. “This is the way incorporation is designed to work. We’re going through the process and doing it the right way and following what the statute says.”
It’s almost like he is saying that because statue says you can sue it can’t be sour grapes, and that not filing a suit would be the true issue. It’s like it’s their civic duty for parish and state and all residents to file this upcoming lawsuit.

They have an argument that incorporating SG hurts BR.
Of course, I don’t think that arguing “Their $64m helps balance BR’s budget” will necessarily endear them to the court or the public.

What the hell did the vote do to deny anyone their 14th amendment rights?
Posted on 10/24/19 at 7:31 pm to Oilfieldbiology
Apparently it is a civil right for incorporated BR to have unincorporated BR’s money.
