I’ll agree that some things are worth splurging on but it’s never gonna be a duffel bag.
I travel a bunch. Totally worth the cost to me.

My Herschel duffle bag has been on countless trips with me. It's my carry on, road trip and overnight stay bag. $100 very well spent.

Grasshopper 729 zero-turn lawnmower with 61" deck and 29hp 3 cylinder Kubota engine. I install a second set of blades at 90 degrees and shred and throw everything. It handles everything from front lawn, roadsides, field waterways, weeds and brush, etc. I have 350 new trees and bushes that I planted two years ago and I mow around them to keep it neat. I mulch anything like sticks under 1 1/4 inches in diameter and some larger stuff. Mowing over 7 acres at a time does get tiresome this wet year when you just have to do it over again five to seven days later though.

This. Best money we've spent on a kitchen appliance.
Can throw our RecTeq pellet smoker in there too. We've used the hell out of it since we bought it a few years ago.

If you like Filson you'll love Duluth Pack* and Frost River. Same concept, hand made in USA. Not owned by private equity so prices about half.
*not to be confused with Duluth Trading, which sells private label far east "work wear".

Not all of these are "buy it once", but these are probably the only consumer goods that we have that I'm impressed with recently:
Toyota 4Runner
New Balance 992, 993
John Deere X580 (Kawasaki engine)
GMC Yukon
Speed Queen Washer and Dryer
TravelPro luggage
My wife really likes some of her handbags but I'm not 100% sure what the brands are. She has two favorites - one is British and one is Italian. She calls them Katherine and Carmella, and I'm pretty sure my daughter will inherit them.
Almost everything else we have is kind of disappointing. Especially furniture. I don't like buying furniture anymore because it's difficult to shop for and most of it is garbage.
Other than my John Deere, my lawn/garden equipment is pretty lame too.
