Also I have a theory that eventually these things will be obsolete.

I bet these companies budgets factor in that they likely will be in 10 years or so and yet they are still profitable to the company, particularly with some juicy tax breaks and cheap energy. Then they'll walk away and leave the people who live around them to have to deal with it
The Diamond is a great ball, the highest spin ball made I believe, high launch, durable. Also with upper tier ball speeds to keep distance up. Pretty comparable to ProV1x but slightly softer feeling with a couple hundred more rpms spin.
$700 is obscene for that course but people must pay it. T compare, for much of the year $700 will get you 4 Bandon courses over 2 days

A good fitting for a new driver assuming you weren’t fit for the ping will be like night and day and worth the $800ish you’d likely spent on a fitting + club if you play often enough. Launch, spin, flight characteristics (draw/fade bias) and forgiveness (although almost all modern drivers, including the “tour” models, are forgiving if they fit you) will primary come down to the clubhead characteristics and all are hugely important. A good fitter should be able to optimize you with one of the no upcharge shaft options which will keep the cost reasonable. The shaft is primarily a timing and feel device with the most important factor being weight, then flex, then bend profile. Many/most will try to sell you on an upgraded shaft because they make just as much in the upgraded shaft as the rest of the club but I don’t think a $350 ventus I going to make much of a difference for the vast majority. There are plenty of facts to back up head characteristics being the most important component. IME Buddha at Bebu Golf gives honest recommendations.

I followed recruiting very closely during that class of 2001 season. You could feel that the program was going to radically change.

This fabric is awesome. Cool with stretch for summer like activewear but can almost pass as chinos and durable as hell

re: Recommend A Fairway Wood

Both are excellent. Many people also swear by Ping. The major difference between Callaway and Taylor made is face height. Callaway has a shallow face that is easier to hit off the ground but harder head off the tee. Taylormade has a deep face for a fairway wood, which some people find difficult to hit off the ground, particularly its you are shallow and tend to hit low on the face with irons/fairways. Pings are similar to callaway but tend to be a little more forgiving with higher spin and less distance.

I would really recommend you get fit for a fairway wood though. It’s not easy hitting a fairway wood off the deck. Getting the right head and loft is huge ( shaft as well). For most people I would wager that a 4 or 5 wood would be better than a 3 wood, with which they struggle to get enough launch and spin. They lose carry distance, consistency and accuracy. 4 or 5 is much easier to hit, will be more consistent, and go a similar distance
Seems like a very good choice for what you’re describing, lots of pros play these in the long irons (often without a contract and some even with a different brand in the short irons) which is a testament to their consistency and performance. Sounds like you are a steep player so the v sole should be great for you. You also likely err on the side of too much spin so if you’re still noticing the ballooning make sure you aren’t playing a high spin ball ( the “X” version except for taylormade) and instead trying a standard ball like the ProV1 or similar.
The $40m is the owner’s estimated total he will have spent from when he bought the course, which includes the purchase of new land and building new facilities. But he is still spending a lot on the new course: sodding the entire course, zoysia fairways and tees, etc. Weird that he chose a relative nobody to design it. His biggest accolade I see is his award from Golf Digest for designing Copper Mill. I wouldn’t expect Doak or Coore/Crenshaw, but a 2nd tier group seems to have been in the budget
I wouldn’t be surprised if Koepka stays independent and keeps his Srixon irons in the bag. His strokes gained approach was #1 last I checked and the srixons fit his steep and high spin iron style. Likely going to change back to vokey for wedges, to the pro v1x ball, and the usual revolving door at driver.
I hope the tour doesn’t cave to Bryson and Rahm and makes them serve a year suspension. They tried to harm the tour and were marginally successful for a short period. Koepka was pretty clear he left because the Saudis offered him a mountain of cash, not because of grievances with the tour.
I doubt the number 3 player in the world winning the tournament and moving to #1 in the FedEx cup, combined with unique story of helping his brother (who was the #140 ranked player in the world prior to the tournament) reach his lifelong dream, is going to hurt the Zurich’s chances.

However I don’t think it’ll be enough to save it since it was otherwise a contest among nobodies, in a small market, on a subpar course, between major tournaments
K’Lavon Chaisson and Arden Key have made themselves into good nfl edge players after initially underperforming as well
As a casual MMA fan, Diaz fights were always some of my favorites. He's fearless and tough, one of those fighters you almost had to kill to get a knock out. He was constantly moving forward and throwing. Fights were always entertaining and generally went the distance.

Just made this decision on a 1 owner, no accident one with perfect maintenance history and love it so far. I’ve heard it described as a Japanese G wagon and that’s not far off, it’s a tank. I will say the black exterior looks by far the best, can look like a mom car in other colors

What was that shot by Scottie?

Bad decision I think. Only took 1 extra club into a 2-3 club wind and tried to kill it, shot was playing 220. Should have hit 5 iron

I would seriously doubt whether a longer driver is going to benefit you if your driver is at 45.5" or 45.75" as with most modern drivers. That's plenty long for just about anyone and 6'4" isn't enough of an outlier for that driver length to not be a comfortable setup. Going longer may increase your distance potential a modest amount but is also more likely to decrease your accuracy and ability to hit the sweetspot.

That does not mean a driver fitting and new driver aren't worth it even if you are inconsistent, particularly if your driver is more than 5-7 years old and/or not a forgiving model. A high MOI driver like the G440 K Max, Quantum Max, Qi4d max in the right loft and with a good enough shaft fit will likely improve your driving significantly. If you have a faster swing speed or generate more spin then other heads might be better. A good fitter should be able to fit you into a stock shaft, avoid companies that insist a beginner needs a $400 shaft.

Avoid club champion, tour spec, etc. Bebu golf in Nola has always treated me right
He might want to look at new over gently used, when looking at total cost of ownership I suspect it will be close to even if not even cheaper. New cars are sitting on lots with consumer confidence down. dealers are willing to negotiate and have more room on new car compared to used. Used car prices are still inflated from COVID/cash for clunkers. Also, you can get a much better rate one a new car when financing, and you get the bumper to bumper warranty.

I would be looking at a crossover for more versatility and similar MPG: CX5, CRV, HRV, Rav4, Corolla Cross, Crosstrek, Forester

Alternative is to buy a well maintained 5-10 year old Lexus ES, RX, or NX for around 15k ish and pocket the rest of the money
The only actual golf I will remember is Anthony Kim destroying Bryson and Rahm in the final round in Australia. That was the best golf moment of the year for me. It was also the only LIV golf I’ve watched.
Lots of bad drives on 2 this week since they moved the tee box to the left and the trees have grown in. If you don’t hit a draw, seems like driver isn’t worth the risk. 3 wood, 3 wood just short of the green seems like a smarter play
