Post on social media about wanting to burn down a hotel or school or other inhabited building and you'll have the police knocking.

Probably not 31 months in jail though..

Even though charges later dropped you can also get arrested for sharing a post that has incorrect info in the UK.

She said she copied "a name and a sentence" from another post without checking the source but had added the line "if this is true, there will be hell to pay".

Ms Spofforth said there had been a "concerted effort" online to have her sent to prison.

She also claimed three police cars and a prison van had turned up to arrest her on 8 August - and that she was put in a cell for 36 hours "like a terrorist".

Inciting a riot not racism is prob what she was arrested for and to various extremes it’s a crime here as well.

keep this in mind when voting in November.

we came real close to this during COVID. And some here supported this level of authoritarianism all because their political side of the aisle told them to.

A British dude was convicted for silently praying outside of an abortion clinic.

The UK has completely lost the plot.

also in before:

why do you care?
how does this effect you/me?
do you live in Great Britain?
how did you even stumble upon this?

i would've never heard of this if not for TD

or the source will be questioned, yet we aren't allowed to ever question the major US news networks/publications.

if that's the case....

all you have to do is paint your opponent or someone you don't agree with as a radical, dangerous, extreme, etc. And anyone who votes or supports your opponent, also is radical, dangerous, extreme, etc.

it's a bit of a slippery slope and goes much further than the "yelling fire in a crowded theater" argument. does it not?

I'll never forget JBE telling us to stop worrying about our rights. And then shortly after, a photo of him at a party in CCL I think with no mask or distancing came out.

There is a ocean of difference between a direct threat of violence and saying "x SHOULD happen"

In a free society, you should be able to vent your frustrations without fear

I took a law class on freedom of speech…. Your point is not true at all.

There is a tiered level of freedom of speech.

If you run into a crowded theater and scream fire…. Your speech is not protected at all.
