The more realistic option will be the evolution of humans into robots where the need for oxygen and water will not be necessary, only some form of fuel/energy. We will also have immortality.
This will happen long before we do anything on Mars.

Next you need a plant that can survive in the Martian soil (NASA is already working on this).
They are actually working on creating martian soil simulants so they can get figure out what fertilizers/nutrients are needed to help plants grow in martian soil. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/can-plants-grow-with-mars-soil
Until we can generate or significantly strengthen Mars magnetic field, all this would be sort of pointless, I would think. Our upper atmosphere is protected by our magnetosphere. Without that, radiation exposure goes through the roof and we're back to domes with protective radiation screens.

Both sides need to start coming together by taking some books (ie "ideas") from in between to find what is realistic.
So you're saying we should leave Matt Damon on Mars and let him play with his poop?

If making water was so cheap and easy then California wouldn't have the water shortages that they do and Africans wouldn't be drinking the same dirty arse water that hippos shite in

Honestly surprised no one posted the Dolph Lundgren vs Bill Nye meme.....but I won't either.

i'm sure this has been pointed out, but who the frick is Bill Nye to criticize Elon Musk?
Bill Nye has nothing more than an engineering degree
Musk has a degree in physics (from UPenn) and almost completed a PhD in physics (at Stanford)
plus Musk has a lot more product than Nye in terms of science output
Musk may be wrong (he's a big idea/thinker and gets overly exuberant) but Nye being such a dick acting like he's some science god is laughable

Because a vapid tv personality who got a mechanical engineering degree many decades ago knows jack shite about science.....

Nye is right - terraforming Mars will be impossible, and Elon Musk is high.

It’s just a chance for him to say something about climate change.
He sounds stupid because he is claiming we are very good at putting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere... that’s how you terraform mars dummy

Bill nye does not have any degree in science

But aren’t we pretty awesome at global warming?
We already sent a Tesla into space. Wait till we land a few SUVs on those sand dunes.
But more seriously, how many times has mankind labeled some endeavor as impossible and then achieved it? It is clearly not possible to terraform Mars using current technology. But the fact that we have established the ability to accidentally alter this planet’s climate, suggests a more focused effort is conceptually possible.

Bill Nye is no more qualified to speak on this kind of shite than I am. Not sure how a masters in Mechanical Engineering all of the sudden meant you are the soothsayer of all scientific innovations that will ever come forth.

Sad that y’all still listen to bill bi the science gay after Ken Ham crushed him in that debate

Bill Nye the “science” guy who thinks gender is a spectrum lol

Ridiculous comparison. Humans are changing Earth negatively from normal human activities. To think that we could somehow change a planet to the very specific conditions required to facilitate life on a planet we've never even been to is absurd right now.
The fact that you have so many downvotes on this scientifically accurate post is somewhat frightening.

Here on earth: “Humans are changing the climate.” On mars: “Its absurd, humans can’t change a climate.”
Right
But the counter should be for those that think we can terraform Mars. Why not terraform the earth to make it more suitable?
