Don't think the gold models are selling above MSRP. It is mainly the SS ones. Sub, GMT, Daytona, Sky Dweller

SS Daytona's are going for 10k over MSRP

Same with the Pepsi GMT on the Jubilee.

The pepsis are still there...geez

I currently work insurance evaluation/replacement, dont personally handle jewelry, but half our business is jewelry. We constantly have to tell insureds with Rolex's that they should have scheduled their piece for above what they paid for it. We lose out on a lot of replacements because of it.

Yep, the new Batman on the Jubilee will probably be the same, if not more than 10k over MSRP. The older version of the Batman is going for about 6k over MSRP right now.

If you can, go to the nearest Rolex AD and buy a stainless Pepsi for around 9K and sell it for almost double. You might want to pick up a couple of stainless Daytona's while you're at it

I almost got a pepsi for $5k on a salvage several years ago. Needed a new band(went down a disposal). A claims manager had his brother outbid me by $500 and I couldnt re-offer

OP, if you’re a race fan, and you up your budget a bit, you may be able to get a Felipe Massa watch on the used market. Pretty fly.

Not true. Many Rolex, AP, and Patek's are trading for well above MSRP right now. Some 50% to 70% above MSRP. You can buy one at an AD and then immediately turn around and sell it for a substantial profit.

That is like saying you can go in and buy a Ferrari 488 and flip it for a huge profit. While watches that are hot like say a Patek stainless Nautilus or ceramic/stainless Daytona sell for huge mark up the average person can't walk into an AD and buy one. I have bought over 50 watches from my primary AD/broker and have been waiting for a Patek Aquanaut Chronograph for over a year and when he gets one for me I will still pay over retail.

You can get any of the precious metal Daytonas for retail, now the ceramic stainless ones are running as much as double retail.

Random thoughts, but understand that there are basically a few kind of watches. Driving (tachymeter), diving (rotating bezel), flying (dials everywhere, calculators), and dress. Makes sense to start there in your search for a watch. With that being said I find that I never use a chronograph, but I'll constantly use the rotating bezel as a timer when I wear a diver.

My deep sea is nearly 2 years old and used ones are currently selling for a few thousand more than I paid for it brand new.

So basically you enjoy forking over hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on a mere piece of jewelry to make yourself feel good with no tangible return on investment?

Ok then.

One of my business partners firmly believes that if you show up in $1000+ shoes and a nice watch people will take you seriously even if the rest of your outfit was $5 from goodwill. Considering how I have seen him dress (or lack thereof) when buying his Lambo, Bentley, etc yet people took him seriously because of his watch selection, I think he's onto something.

Just saying there can be a lot more to it than an average person may think.

It's almost a must have in some circles and the ROI can be seen indirectly such as closing a business deal.

don't know how much that factors into business deals, unless dealing with some pretty superficial clientele, but women seem to always notice and comment on my watch
