I agree a manual wind 3570 is going to be in the 3200-4000 range. You can find automatics and reduced Speedmasters in the range. I picked up a Mark40 a couple of years ago for $1300 and it was in excellent shape which was a deal but $1500 should get one if you look. The Mark 40 may be too busy for some and it has a less storied ETA 7753 movement.

That is a great story and you don't have to worry about the watch having been molested or being a Frankenstein. As specific 6139s have become more and more sought after it has become hard to find true all original Pogues. It is one of the watches that illustrates the watchmaking chops Seiko has had for a long time.

What I said is that I don't wear them for anyone other than myself, in the same way that I don't have a nice mattress for anyone other myself (and my SO, I suppose ). And I don't mix investments with pleasure. If other people want to hang art they don't like on their walls in hopes it appreciates, that's their prerogative; it's not my preference.

I like being able to look down and enjoy the technical prowess and artistic craftsmanship in a wristwatch. If that's not your thing, that's fine. But to act as though it's unreasonable is silly.

You have two things that are issues. An 8 yo watch is due for service (if it has not been serviced) and the lack of bracelet. A reasonably fresh service and a correct 1998/849 bracelet will add about $800 or so to the value. I think a new bracelet runs near $800 but one might be able to find one used.

There was a decent looking 3570.50 listed on WUS in the last few days for ~3k with typical wear which is about right for a peer to peer sale but I am reluctant to use those numbers for someone not used to buying used watches, they normally want what they feel is the comfort of buying from a dealer which will add 10% or so to the price in most cases.

The moon watch is a classic watch that may not be for everyone, the manual wind and Hesalite crystal aren't everyone's idea of an ideal watch. You can obviously get them with sapphire but are harder to find used and usually have a decent premium being realtively new.

This is such a tired attack on watches. Do you drive the cheapest vehicle, without any bells and whistles? Do you only buy clothes from Goodwill? Everyone has luxuries in life. I have a 8 year old vehicle that is paid off, but I wear a 3k watch. Some might think that is stupid, I think it’s stupid to buy a 75k truck when a 45k truck would be more than suitable, but whatever floats someone’s boat
