Have you held a fifty fathoms?

I have never had one of my modern Tudors mistaken for a Rolex. Tudors catalog is really interesting and with the price and small supply of steel Rolex they are really attractive.
I have a BBH 79230 which takes a lot of styling cues from the 6538 "big crown" Submariner. I kinda wish I had waited and gotten a BB58 for the sleeker case though. Agree that nothing in the modern Rolex catalog looks at all like the current Tudors. If the OP was willing to stretch to 2.5K ish, that would be an excellent choice (talking buying trusted seller used or Gray for that price).

No but I like those too. 10k is kind of much though

Looks like a ton of watches have been covered. But you guys recommending the Speedy Pro and the Tudor for a guy looking for a $1000 watch just crack me up.

15 $100 watches will probably last you forever.

I never recommended in that price range. Just stating I liked them because the post I replied to was talking about a Speedy pro.
My favorite in that price range is probably Christopher Ward.
This is fine.

You and Gaston don't read very well do you? He said he was looking in the 1-1.5k range, and was willing to spend more, he just didn't want to spend 5k.

The biggest problem was the OP never came back to direct his thread. It was a little like saying "I have $150, recommend me a pair of shoes". Does he want sneakers, loafers, hiking boots, dress shoes or something else? Plus not leaving a hard top end on budget people will always creep the range, it happens on every forum.
When you don't tend a recommendation thread it will almost always devolves into a general discussion of the topic.

One of my business partners firmly believes that if you show up in $1000+ shoes and a nice watch people will take you seriously even if the rest of your outfit was $5 from goodwill. Considering how I have seen him dress (or lack thereof) when buying his Lambo, Bentley, etc yet people took him seriously because of his watch selection, I think he's onto something.
When I buy a IWC Big Pilot and wear it with jeans and nike air max >>>
