It does to me. It's probably the least clean place I've ever lived in. Bad air quality, bad water quality, and lots of litter everywhere. Doesn't take a genius to figure it out.
I mean yeah, the swamps, marshes, and forests are bountiful with wildlife but that's not what this ranking is about.

that just means our in state competition is low. I'd actually have to work harder to find the same success in a state with a higher ranking. F all that. I like to hunt and fish too much. lol

Really seems like "best states" should at least try to account for how people feel actually living in these places instead of picking some random economic metrics.
And Louisiana is a far more beautiful place when you're talking about where people actually live. Utah has national parks but you don't get to live there. Orem is a pavement paradise and one of the ugliest cities I have ever seen.

Other than maybe Utah, I’d live in each of the supposed “bottom 5” long before the “top 5.” All those places may look good on paper, but suck arse in reality.
ETA they’ve got some nerve putting Alaska, Michigan, and New Mexico so low in a ranking than includes natural environment. Especially when they chose to put Nebraska in the top 5. Comedy.

It's not based on natural beauty. It's about pollution. Which is why Utah is almost last in that category. Inversions in the winter and wildfire smoke in the summer.

Right. Utah is ranked #48 for the Natural Environment category because the ranking DID NOT include national parks. The category describes the polluted nature of where people live.

I found the opposite to be true. It was a lot easier to launch a career and a business in Texas or Florida than it was in Louisiana. Easier to find competent employees and customers. Nobody really cared who my parents were or what high school I went to. It was all based on skill.
Also, Louisiana isn't the only state where you can hunt a fish lol.

Definitely, most people I know would rather build a house on uneven soil on a former sugarcane farm with a littered bayou next to it than it than a place with mountains and alpine forests. These out of state liberals don't know what they're missing.
