Disagree, we just have a particularly shitty mayor. That will pass.
Business community, religious community, non profits came together to form coalition to bring awareness to issues. Plenty of groups keeping the spotlight on the issues; think Metropolitan Crime Commission.
Once Teedy is gone, things will get better.
Lol. You think so?
I could see the next mayor being an insanse activist named something like "Sonia Umfufu Muhammed X" - it'll be too late for the movers and shakers to stop the system of mayors they've wrought and within weeks, the city will become nearly uninhabitable.
You think NOLA is gonna bring a Rudy Guiliani/1990's NYC type mayor to clean things up?

What's her way around the consent decree?
Good question, I have no idea. I'm sure she has commented on it but I do not know.
That should be the #1 issue for any mayoral candidate.

Yea Helena is my bet. She’s been getting everything in a row to make a run and she’s fairly popular among everyone.
Plus her and Latoya hate each other. Being Latoya’s rival goes a long way right now.

just so happens to be a convicted felon that took bribes while in office.
That alone should qualify him for any political post in Louisiana

apparently it's in Gayle's will to sell the teams when she dies and donate the money. Who in the New Orleans area would be able to buy them?

Those are suburbs of major US population centers. Not acres of pine trees
IDK. Foxborough is the middle of fricking nowhere.
And Covington/Mandeville is definitely bigger and nicer than Hamburg, NY. And far, far less depressing (had to spend a winter there on a project).

I like JP & would vote for him. Moreno is competent but a little less transparent.
Even so, at least you’d go to the polls with a few options.

The saints are never leaving unless the fan base doesn’t support them.
Crime isn’t going to lose the saints. It might cost them super bowls but it certainly won’t force the saints to move

I do.
Will obviously not be a GOP candidate, but there are democrats who want to get crime under control by increasing NOPD staffing and resources.
I am sure if there was a TD in 1994, people would have said the city was dead and would never recover; yet it did.

Exactly, the suburbs they are moving to are in themselves major population centers close to other major population centers.
Remarkable how few people lack scope on how large the top 20 cities and suburbs are in the US. NOLA is neither nor is it the epicenter of the US as some of you apologists believe.

I'm in a ANYONE is better than Latoya mode.
Moreno does worry me, because she has some very far left views.
But...she is not stupid like Latoya.
She will likely not be as crooked as Latoya.
And she will definitely not be as lazy as Latoya.
Someone that is actually smart and would actually WORK would be such a giant step up.

Moreno is a true, hardcore progressive, but she is pretty smart and has been very vocal about needing to increase NOPD and a lot of changes that are pretty smart. She is not dumb. She is very left of center though.
The minute there is any crackdown on the criminal element, the activists begin to move.
When that happens, the progressives ALWAYS fold.
There is zero in New Orleans’ past that shows improvement is in its future.
Hell, it took a hurricane to wash the city clean, not a political shift.

Some of you are so blinded in your hate for New Orleans, it’s crazy.

San Antonio had their own NFL team for a few weeks and still couldn't fill it half way.

This, the state has spent more than enough money on athletic entertainment.
