Disagree, we just have a particularly shitty mayor. That will pass.

Business community, religious community, non profits came together to form coalition to bring awareness to issues. Plenty of groups keeping the spotlight on the issues; think Metropolitan Crime Commission.

Once Teedy is gone, things will get better.

You really think any new mayor in New Orleans will be any better?

The only hope that city has is if we start making some of those offices regional.

sure, we could build a basketball arena in Mandeville, but the hotels and the economics tied with nola tourism and nba events just doesn't make sense.
bullshite. Those hotels can charge a regular rate instead of jacked up rates whenever there's a game scheduled. There's better food outside downtown, too. People coming in from the surrounding area aren't thrilled to go downtown. Only tourists who've never been to New Orleans and the French Quarter care.

yes, I do think it will get better. I think the two likely mayoral candidates will be much better than Teedy.

Would you say shut down the US bc Biden is incompetent?

Next mayor will be Teedy 2.0.

When it comes to progressives, and NOLA can only elect progressives, building up the police department and working to curtail criminals is a career killer.

The minute police crack down, the riots begin and the city leaders fold.

That is the current political reality created post-BLM.

There is no going back.

This is probably the best idea yet. Right in-between the street recreation and restaurants in NOLA and the airport. Plus you get the security of JPSO.

Not viable long term, too close to the feral animals creating the current problem

I havent lived in NOLA for while, what are the board’s thoughts on these two ?

From what little i know of Moreno, she at least seems more competent than Cantrell ( a very low bar).. i dont even know what party Moreno belongs to, only that she used to be very tight with Rita, whom im guessing she’s cut ties with by now .

Plenty of pro arenas and stadiums well outside of the host city's downtown core.

And they all suck arse.

Y’all can keep hoping/wishing/praying for the Saints/Pels to move but they’re not going anywhere - certainly not to your trailer park in this state.

“We’re live from Covington, LA for Super Bowl LXXV”…get fricking real

You will keep coming and spending your money in NOLA to see them and you will keep whining about it on the internet like losers.

Tear down the shrine on Airline and build a state of the art facility to host both football and basketball there is plenty of room. Come on Cynthia Lee Sheng, make it happen. Show Teedy how its done.

I like this idea. All you need to add is a light rail that connects Airport, Airline Stadium, and downtown. Maybe existing rail lines makes this not as huge as running new rail all the way. A little tweak to Earhart would make it a breeze to run that stretch. This would also develop Airline the whole way from MSY to downtown.

It would be a traffic nightmare, not to mention the horrible optics of wasting $700 M in multiple Superdome refurbishments only to move 10 miles away.

The metro popluation of NOLA is now under 1M with the continued flight out of Louisiana. We're just not a major sports league any longer and the sooner we accept the inevitable move away the better.

Im all for the Saints remaining in the 504, but this is a stupid argument .

The new $2 Billion SoFi Stadium is literally in Inglewood, CA… and for decades, New York sports teams have been “live from The Meadowlands, New Jersey”…

Imagine JP trying to justify building a $1B stadium for a team that will be sold when their 75 year old owner dies.

I know there's gonna be a lot of "she'll never move them" or "No way Jerry is gonna let another team in Texas" but I think you can almost set your clock on:

Saints to San Antonio
Pels to Seattle to become the Sonics

Remember when Gayle was almost carjacked on S. Claiborne 2 years ago? I mean - that's totally normal. NFL/NBA owners getting carjacked.

Neither team will be here in a decade the way NO is trending. The city doesn't know how to stop their slide, nor are they willing.
