I'm fricking mad. I don't understand why we elect retards here and we let people run things like shite. My push for this information may seem like I'm just stacking the deck against what we have here, but I'm telling you - my entire motivation is geared to wake people up before it's too late.
Ever since the Louisiana Purchase New Orleans and Louisiana has been the most insular and provincial major Southern city and state. The Americans who came after the LA Purchase didn't change New Orleans and Louisiana they adapted to it.
Louisiana is still a place where personal relationships and family ties that go back centuries carry more weight than outside innovation or leadership or outside money. People in New Orleans care more about where you went to high school than where you went to college.
NOLA at the mouth and Delta of the Mississippi should be one of the largest cities in the country attracting outside people and ideas since it's a port city with connections to the world. Instead it remains insular and self-contained and different and that is part of its charm.
The urban area at the beginning of the Mississippi Minneapolis-St. Paul has double the people of NOLA and a much healthier and diverse economy. NOLA has a culture that prizes the old ways and how things have been done and when your family came to NOLA versus what your family can do in NOLA.

Dude, you are correct historically, but mistaken in assuming that this will continue going forward. The city has major problems that make it increasingly undesirable as a destination. All the while other cities are stepping up with more and better hotel rooms, new stadiums, etc. It ain’t the 60s, 70s or 80s. Things can turn much quicker than you think.

Chicago, Baltimore, Philly and other cities with high crime continue to have teams...
Most of the crime in these cities is contained outside the tourist areas

And they all suck arse.
Y’all can keep hoping/wishing/praying for the Saints/Pels to move but they’re not going anywhere - certainly not to your trailer park in this state.
“We’re live from Covington, LA for Super Bowl LXXV”…get fricking real
You will keep coming and spending your money in NOLA to see them and you will keep whining about it on the internet like losers.
My only complaint is I can only upvote once.

So, Chicago still had over 600 murders...
Chicago has 3 million people.
NOLA almost hit 300 murders while barely crossing the quarter million people mark.

NOLA is replacing Detroit as the new Detroit.

I guess 209 is close to 300...
No one was saying this shite back in '94 when the city hit 416 murders...

Saints have been one of the more profitable teams in the league and intermediate of regional ratings share they are either # 1 or #2 meaning that the percentage of people watching in the Gulf South from Lake Charles to Panama City area and as far North as Grenada, MS is incredibly profitable for the size.
Saints are not going ANYWHERE

Dogging on NOLA and all things NOLA is seen as cool to some.

New Orleans had 279.
15% the population, 45% of the murders.

I went to Mandeville high school and never could understand why Skippers was the mascot .. i mean, i get that it’s located close to the lake- but to me ‘Mandeville Mariners’ would have sounded better, and much more alliterative .
*also we used to joke that we were called the Skippers becuase we skipped so much school, but i digest .

Helps them feel better about living in some place where they have more Dollar Generals than restaurants.

And that does matter when applying for jobs there BTW. It's a very parochial city; known for being closed off to outsiders.
Houston, Memphis, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Baton Rouge all have a little bit of that but nowhere near as bad.

You are joking but I seriously give the Saints 5 years before they split.
Both franchises will be out of LA within 5-10 years. NOLA will be part of the excuse/problem. Lets not forget the Saints made a serious run at leaving NOLA before Brees/Peyton era.

I don't like the Northshore. I tried living there for a couple of years then moved back to Metairie.
That said, there's nothing inherently ridiculous about an NFL team there. Secaucus, NJ has two NFL teams, and I'm sure people from Manhattan laughed at that idea when it was first floated.
There's nothing particularly special about Orleans compared to Jefferson or St. Tammany anymore. I mean, very few of us build a life around second lines and S&WB garbage sculptures.
