Dropped by my daughter’s school earlier today because she had her braces removed yesterday and was still hurting this AM. So, I broke a couple of the school’s rules to bring her a Powerade and Advil. They let dads get away with stuff like that.

She absolutely lit up when she saw me, and she was genuinely happy to get 8oz of flavored water and medicine from me. Between the hug and her smile, it reminded me I’m damn lucky to be a dad.

She’s 13, so this stage will quickly pass. Some poor boy is going to be brave/stupid enough to show interest, and that’ll be a tough time for him (and me TBH).

Still an awesome feeling that I can make her smile in the meantime.

My neighbors each have 13 year old daughters that have switched between best friends and mortal enemies about 6 times in the last few months. So glad I have a son

My 8 year old daughter has a 15 year old mentality. Loves me when she wants something and I’m the devil the rest of the time.

I still love being a dad and consider it the greatest gift in life by far.

Man, being a dad and seeing your kid light up when they see you is just about the best thing in life.

Mine is about to Turn 11. I’m dreading the change and the coming of the red witch.

But for now, she still wants snuggles and cuddles and lullabies and still loves me.

My parents would have told me to rub some dirt on it, and get my arse to school, so that's very nice of you.

My 13 year old successfully ignores me until she needs something.

Your parents must’ve really hated you to tell you to rub dirt on your brace free teeth after paying all that money for the braces.

Well maybe that’s why they hated you.

I don’t have a daughter but my wife calls me daddy. That’s gotta count for something.

Well my 13yo actually asked me yesterday what she should say to a boy that asked her to be his girlfriend. I asked her if she liked him and she said yes. So I said you should tell him ok then. Not gonna lie, on one hand I'm happy she came to me seeking direction/approval but on the other hand, my heart sank a little bit.

My 5 year old girl knows all the tricks already to make me melt. I take advantage of her actually liking me right now bc I know in a few years she’s gonna be a real pain with her attitude. Got another 6 month old girl to follow her footsteps so I’ll get the hugs and kisses all over again when the older one is too cool. There’s nothing like having children. You want to kill them one minute and the next they melt your heart. Little shits.
