I have a 6 month old in the NICU. Our first born. Cant wait til the day she comes home. We’ve been praying it will be by Christmas but that’s seeming more and more unlikely. Cant wait til she is healthy enough to be able to come home. Been in the hospital her whole life and will seem even that much more of a blessing once she finally does. She already melts my heart every time we visit especially now that she is old enough to interact so much more.

my last 2 were in the NICU. The baby was in the longest but only around a week. She was 6 weeks early and weighed less than 5 lbs.

It was a rough week for us.

I hope your baby girl recovers / grows strong so she can come home soon

Not really! My daughter is 19, in college, and living on her own, and I still get that big smile and hug when I see her and it's still awesome!

You are correct it is a wonderful feeling like no other but I do miss when she was still a little girl. Cherish every minute because it goes by fast...

Thanks, she’s a trooper! Was born 14 weeks early and just a little over a lb. She will make it out in due time and we have full faith she’ll be a perfectly healthy little girl. Very blessed all the obstacles she’s been able to overcome!

I feel for you. NICU is such a roller coaster ride of emotions it is very hard on the parents.

That 19 year old college student of mine was in NICU for 4.5 months. She was born at less than 26 weeks, weighed 1lb 10oz, and had to have major surgery at 2 days old. Doctors never gave her no more than a 30% chance to live and less than that to be "Normal".
Keep up the faith there are miracles out there and my daughter is one of them.

Can completely relate! We had doctors tell us time and time again she wouldn’t make it. It’s been a roller coaster indeed. Great to hear that about your daughter.

Word of advice: don’t raise your daughter to be a princess. Raise her to be responsible for her actions and to take accountability for the times that she is wrong. The world needs less divas and more women who bring something more than a pretty smile and some arse to the table

Daughters are awesome!! My 12yo will talk to me about anything!! I told her years ago, that I was her father first, and her friend second.

She comes to me about things to talk, and it pisses my wife off!!! My brother has two sons, and he is jealous. Says his sons are mommas boys. I told him that was his fault.

If either of my girls need something they ask dad, and always gives a smile, hug, and kiss. It’s all in how you raise them.

I realize darker days are around the corner, but I’m loving the hell out of this right now!!

I have a Nicu baby. He is now 2 and an amazing kid. He talks better than most kids his age. He still is in OT tho. But he is fricking awesome. I know the NICU life sucks but she will be awesome. She is white girl she will be fine. Our nurse said that black little girls and then white girls are the strongest in the NICU...then the whimpy white boys lol. Mine was 6 weeks early and stayed 3 weeks in the NICU.

Not necessarily- my oldest never went into full bitch mode - she’d get snappy with me but it was a rarity, and never with dad
