I posit all lives are depressing AF. All you need to do is turn your gaze to Bezos who sent dick picks and gay texts to a 50 year old busted skank who slept with half the NBA and half the NFL.

Or Trump who had to pay Stormy D 150 G for some sexy time.

They may have their own planes and islands but are pretty much on the same level as the Quagmires scamming on divorced forty-somethings with herpes at the Cadillac.

I’m really struggling with life right now. I’ve worked my arse off on multiple fronts, but am just average. As hard and as much time as I’ve put in at work, im basically middle to upper management for life earning just enough to think I’m rich, but will never have f*** you money. Have devoted most of my life to my hobbies, but I’ll never really be good enough to make money at them. Finally got engaged and now she is prob a couple weeks from leaving me because I’m already boring. I’m now early 40s wondering why I’m even alive. If I died tomorrow, anyone who cares would be over it in a week or two.

Jesus. You gotta buck up man.

I don’t make a fortune, but it’s a fortune compared to a lot of other people based on where I live. I work from home and enjoy my job most of the time. Very comfortable living.

And there are many more women out there if she does leave.

Wait..aren’t you the poster the other day saying you made $180k a year? I could be confusing you with someone else.

I think a lot of these guys have a point. I mean you intentionally rejected materialism, Roger. You chose to spend your time hiking in the Alaskan wilderness. You are an unconventional guy. You have to get this yearning that men get to live a bit outside the lines.

I’ve done it my own way my whole life. I never bought in to the hype (other than marriage) . I think a lot of these guys are asking the right questions. Why do they have to get married? Why do they have to get corporate jobs ? I think there is wisdom in questioning all this stuff.

damn right. I work very hard at a job worth doing... as a result I was just able to buy my first house....a damn nice one at that. Not a day goes by where I don't get home and feel proud of that. Sorry paying your rent doesn't give you the same sense of satisfaction

I was single until I was 40. I'm picky like that.

I got tired of the military's bullshite. Life is soooo much easier on this side of the isle. And I get paid a frick-ton more for what I do.

It's all about perspective.

owning a home(s) does not bring you joy in my experiences

if anything, it just made feel the opposite.

let me just slave away to pay this mortgage for the next 25 years and on top of that add on insurance/property taxes etc

depressing shite

39 and have never had a "real" job and never plan to. I would be miserable if I did and I know it. It keeps me motivated to remain self employed. The only issue I deal with is that I find it more fun to build a new business than it is to maintain one so after year 5 or so I start getting pretty bored. If it wasn't for the 50 or so people (subs and employees) that rely on my current business to support their families I would have already walked away from it in pursuit of something else as I find it monotonous at this point.

I don't get people who day this. If you want to live under a roof you either spend your life paying a mortgage or spend your life paying rent. In the latter you never own anything...you are borrowing someone else's property...how the hell does that make sense?? You are gonna pay either way...midas well be towards owning something

The list in the OP is shallow and depressing even by OT standards. Impressive.

Nah, depressing is taking that same money and giving it to someone else for the privilege of them letting you stay on their property.
