Do the Katrina to Austin and come back in ten years. Dumb comparison. Why all the Louisiana self loathing on this board?

ETA. I didn’t love NOLA til I got a place uptown. I wouldn’t trade it for anything Austin has.

People say this but rent is on par with BR and Nola unless your in the middle of downtown. And traffic is a dream compared to BR. It's not even close.

A lot of the Californians moving to Texas are Republicans who are fed up with California.

People just assume the Californians moving to Texas are Liberal. A lot aren’t.

You don't understand and you never will. Real culture, Spanish, German, Irish, French, creole, etc make New Orleans the most unique city in America. I know someone who’s lived in Austin for 30 years and is moving to New Orleans soon. Texas is the next California without the beauty, you can have it. Yes we pay a lot of money for some of the finest Catholic schools in the country, but then that “tax” is over after graduation. And there’s no such thing as a good government school. You don’t know what’s going on in public schools and you never will. You’re not allowed to !

Nola hasn’t changed in 300 years? Hell, 20 years ago you were safe on bourbon and in the quarter. Now you’ll get shot on every street corner.

New Orleans' worst decade of violent crime was in the 90's.

And you have the gall to say this to another poster:

And now most of Austin has zero charm or character. It's New Jersey with mesquite, and rilly rilly rilly shitty traffic. No thanks.

I don’t understand people who think no state income tax is the greatest thing ever. Sure it is more on your paycheck but you pay it right back in property taxes wether you buy or rent.

I’ve lived in both. Nola is better.

Some of these folks aren’t from La, just went to college here. For whatever reason La lives inside their head and the only way to deal with it is post on a message board about it. It’s a daily thing here and usually has the same 4-5 posters bashing Nola or La. It’s like they think they are the first people to figure out La has crooked politicians and people litter, and constantly have to explain to us every single day a bunch of stuff we already know. Just let them enjoy it, it feeds their ego

I don't know why others do it, but I like to remind you guys every once in a while to stop supporting tax and spend democrats (and RINOs) with anti-business policies.

Texas is doing better than Louisiana because of the business friendly politics and low taxes. It's not that hard, Louisiana.

No doubt Austin is booming, but don’t you think Katrina may have a little something to do with the net migration out of New Orleans. If you would have posted this thread a few years ago, you could have probably doubled that number.

I think it has something to do with a progressive population and government consistently opening doors to businesses and growth vs corruption and filth.

Same. Grew up on the westbank so I hated NOLA growing up. Now I live in Broadmoor and absolutely love it. Feels like a small town and can get anywhere in the city within 10 minutes.

NOLA doesn't represent all of Louisiana. Lafayette where I live has grown tremendously in the last 30 years. The question is why does NOLA suck so bad?
