Austin added 500k, NOLA lost 75k+ residents

Over the same 29 year period. In 1990, New Orleans and Austin had roughly the same population, approx 480,000. Austin is well on its way to 1 million residents (in city limits). NOLA is struggling to replenish the PreK population. NOLA was on a downturn PreK.
Is all of this due to Texas no state income taxes??

If they are from California (and they are) then it is a net loss for Texas.

Better living

150 people a day move to Austin.
The city's identity has changed drastically over the last 15 years and is no longer the unique oasis it once was. Rent is getting out of control and traffic is a disaster.
It is a mixture of the worst of Dallas and California. The infrastructure is woefully behind because the city council for years pretended the city wasn't exploding population wise.
New Orleans has a laundry list of problems but it hasn't changed who it is in 300 years and never will.

Something tells me you don’t know what you are talking about. Austin is the mix of the worst of Dallas? The worst of Dallas is oakcliff and pleasant grove. Those two neighborhoods aren’t moving to Austin. Austin’s motto was keep Austin weird. While slightly goofy is did lean towards hippie/democrat. That is pretty much the Cali population that is moving there.
Nola hasn’t changed in 300 years? Hell, 20 years ago you were safe on bourbon and in the quarter. Now you’ll get shot on every street corner.

100 percent wrong and an ignorant statement. Californians relocate to growing areas of TX and have zero problems with interacting and supporting the economy.

Austin is a cool place to visit but I’d never want to live there. In Central Texas, I’d want to live in San Antonio or New Braunfels.
DFW & Houston are the places I’d list above Austin. Why do Californians love it so much?
Nola is also cool to visit. Not cool to live.

Austin has the highest quality of life in the country, according to USNWR. Great business environment, educated workforce, good parks and recreation opportunities, world class entertainment, air and water quality not totally fricked like some other cities in Texas.

Wrong. New Orleans was a major economic center 100 years ago. Today it is a tourist town with some oil facilities nearby.

100% correct my friend moved out here 13 years ago after Katrina and such a different place. It’s a major city now without the infrastructure to support the amount of people. Used to be flip flops and tank tops now it’s skinny jeans and high rises ..
