re: Are there that many people who are really buying cars/trucks/SUVs that cost $100K?

Spending 100k on slightly used Carrera
Agreed, but for different reasons. Fun to drive and a luxury cockpit to drive from. Badass for track days. And value will hold up nicely for resale.

My old Honda Accord was the best vehicle I may ever own. Sold it with 225K miles and it still ran like a top. Think I paid around $25K for it.
And can guarantee it was a higher quality vehicle than a 22 model Jeep Grand at 4x the price.

Where are they selling 2017 vehicles 50% off?
No kidding. I’ve been pricing vehicles recently and 2022 cars are actually cheaper or equal than slightly used 2019-2021

If I was going to drop $100k on a Wagoneer it would be to one of those 3rd parties that do a total overhaul and refurb on the classic models. Some guys are doing Gods work out there.

Why do people constantly drive through wealthy neighborhoods to look at houses, they know they’ll never afford? The residents look at their Dodge Chargers and Challengers and laugh at them.

I've been wanting a new truck for a few years now and can easily afford one but there is zero chance I give in to those prices if for no other reason than principle. We just upped our investment contributions as opposed to dumping that money into a $1000 a month note.

People honestly think they can still go to a car dealership and buy a car? That’s not the way it works anymore. You go get on a list to be on another list. You are looking at at least 6-8 months before you drive off the lot in your new car that you just paid $2000 over MSRP.

If you are driving a 2022, you ordered it before Halloween in 2021.

I bought a model s. Paid roughly $80k. It's worth it because I drive a ton so I save $200-400/month in gas and I write off the miles.

Yes, those with the ability to spend $100k+ on a vehicle are still doing so...

I mean yes you can write them off, but even a 100k dollar vehicle is probably a dumb idea in most business settings with tax implications. Reinvestment in the business and its assets that generate revenue is the smarter play here.

For every &50,000 of vehicle cost, they are increasing $800, every four months on average. If you order a vehicle, you are not locked in on price until it arrives. There is talk that the price increases will accelerate.

I’ve only seen one. It looked like the family rented for the weekend for a Gonzales parade.

They hold it out there like they just dropping fat stacks on the salesperson’s desk, because that’s how they roll, pay cash up front like a boss. But really they leasing.

Lots of new ones on the road, so I’d say people are buying them. They may have 8 -10 yr notes. I don’t know so I’m just babbling.

Well unless they start making them cheaper a lot more people will be paying 100k for vehicles in the next few years.
the smart ones wont
people are starting to wake up to the idea they can have a frame off fully restored car or truck built today with new 2022 suspension comfort and ride and new crate engine and tranny, with all new everything, and be out the door all in for $40k
hell if you want instant gratification then go to an auction where you can buy one ready to drive off for $30k-$40k

If they are paying a 100k they are car stupid.
But I guess it's all relative to their income.
