Never been to one of my high school reunions. However, every 5 years my 8th grade class gets together and its usually a good time and that I do go to.

Most of us went to school from 1st-8th grade together and grew up in the same neighborhood, played ball at the same park(s), hung out at the pool together, etc. A much closer groups of friends as kids than what we had in high school.

Well, that and graduating from 8th grade when you grew up on the westbank is kinda a big deal.

I finally went to my 30 year reunion and had a good time. 10 year was way too soon and just missed the 20 year because of work.

Not really, I guess it depends if you still see your HS friends. I only see one of my buddies from school and not that often. I enjoyed mine, but only 20 or so people showed up, those of us that live out of town mainly. Most of them still live in the same town we grew up.

My 10 year reunion was last year. I didn't go. I don't keep up with anyone I went to high school with and ignored the facebook request for info as I had no intention of going. Looking back, I kind of wish I could have gone just to people watch. I don't really want to converse with any of them. But it would be nice to answer some of those "wonder what ever happened to that random person" questions.

Also, I went to a pretty shitty school, so it would likely make me feel better about myself for the most part . But that's not worth the 6 hour drive and uncomfortable conversations with people I don't really like.

I love all the "to have sex with old classmate" responses

I'm willing to bet that happens <1% of the time

You people watch too many movies

I would never go to a HS reunion. I tried to separate myself from that trash ASAP. No need to converse with those losers.

Ever think they might feel the same way?

The local Lottery Winner (aka "Mrs. Füt) attended the same High School as did I. We did not hang out with each other in High School, but met later. (Luckily for her) Therefore my reunions are social obligations but not opportunities, even though they are target-rich environments.

My overall reunion observation:
Some folk's stock improves over time. But most folk's stock dis-improves over time.

I had a blast at my 20 year. I've been living 600 miles away pretty much since graduation (minus a few years I got sucked back into FQ life) so it was good to catch up with everyone in person.

There is so much sad in this thread.

What the point of a social gathering of people from your youth?

To converse. To remember. Take a trip down memory lane.

An opportunity for nastalgia and to socialize like you did when you were young.

Looking at someones Facebook wall can't replace hanging out and catching up with them.

Going out and having a good time. And the after party, after the ice is broken and everyone relaxes is always a blast.

I feel sorry for a lot of yall who have grown so cynical and hard that you can't see the value in getting together with old classmates for a night. You've grown so accustomed to routine and malaise that the thought of venturing out scares you.

You do not have to wait 10 years for a class reunion to catch up with anybody these days.

She definitely does, but I'm playing it cool.

Mine was. I was responsible for planning our 10 year reunion 3 years ago. People were seriously bitching about having to pay $30/person to attend. They can plan their own 25 year reunion and not invite me

So, by that logic, whats the point of parties?

To get drunk and play beer pong? At least that's how most parties I go to end up.

Our 10 year was set up on Facebook (which I've never had). I found out about it two weeks before, and when I heard about the $75 fee, I bailed. From what I heard, only like 15 people out of 350 showed up anyway
