With Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook what is the point of actually attending a high school reunion?

You can send a message to them on facebook and meet up with them. You know what their kids look like, where they work, their last vacation, and what they ate last night for dinner.

You do not have to wait 10 years for a class reunion to catch up with anybody these days.

With the rise of social media, it seems that something as simple as having a face to face conversation has sadly been lost.

I had my 10 year this July. I didn't go because I am still friends with the people I was friends with in high school. So I'd rather just hang at their house and have a party with everyone.

If I would have went it would have been something like this. Look at people and say "yep, turned out exactly like I thought."

no, of course not

but most of my HS friends live all across the country, some in other countries

you know how hard it is to get us all together?

our 10 HS reunion was the last time we all got together and that was 2 years ago

and we had a fricking blast

Everyone I was friends with in high school I still see. No need for that.

To have awkward conversations with people you didn't really like much even 10 years ago.

I guess if you never left your hometown, I could see it

but I like getting together with my friends, I never understand the OTs hatred for social events

Girlfriend went to Ben Franklin, and they have a very active group and seem to enjoy getting together. OTOH I keep up with a handful of people I graduated with, and couldn't care less about the rest.

So, using Facebook, could I throw water on someone's crotch and then scream that they peed themselves?

No, the technology isn't there yet. Til then, I'll keep going to my reunions sporting my bad arse letter jacket.

Did you know that there is still a qualitative difference in face to face interaction versus interaction through social media?

It's true.

Believe it or not, actually talking to people in person is different than social media. Human interaction is a kind of awesome thing for the most part.
