It’s gotten too expensive and requires nearly a full day of work.
I’d much rather prefer going fishing or getting things done in the morning then relaxing on the sofa for the game.

Am I alone here?
Nope.
I got burned out about 5-6 years ago. I used to attend every home game and 2-3 road games a year but now would rather just have people over or hangout on my back porch cooking and drinking a few without all the hassle. I guess I am just getting old..
My progression:
Mid 20's - Every Home game and 2-3 road games a year
Mid 30's - Every Home game and 1 road game a year
Mid 40's - 1-2 Home games a year and maybe 1 road game.
but last year: I did not go to one game!

2 or 3 games a year is plenty for me.

quote:Dude, you realize the majority of SEC schools have strict parking rules on gameday. Along with that fact that with a growing program. They had to prepare for more fans to attend.
In the past 15 years LSU has done everything they could to drive away fans. The only reason fans did not go away was because the majority of teams in the past 15 years have been very good. It started with Skip putting up black posts everywhere inside campus and making it all pay parking, then Alleva with the no parking signs up and down Burbank, Nicholson and River Road. It really is a pain in the arse to go to games now. And for what, to sit in a tiny seat and listen to commercials the whole damn game?

Miles circa 2014, was when the schtick wore off and it was obvious the emporer had no clothes. That started to ruin it for me. Then the shitshow that ensued in 2015 with Alleva being a pussy at A&M game and not letting Miles walk out into the sunset really pissed me off. Orgeron is not enough of a promising hire to bring me back at this point. Hope I’m proved wrong but I highly doubt it.

Since the 2012 season I haven’t really had much positive energy for going to games. Parking became a nightmare. Traffic worse. The food is terrible and expensive. The seats have no leg room and aren’t comfortable. I’m too old to stand up as much now. It’s hot as hell until November usually. And then I have kids which changes priorities a lot.
I can sit on my couch with a beer and watch every game. Go to the bathroom when I want. Pause and fast forward. Replay if I want. Eat what I want. And it’s a better angle than most seats in the stadium. Plus I can have other games on tv during halftime.
Going to games isn’t the same experience it was even 10-15 years ago. I go to 1-2 a year just to say I went and let the kids experience it. But I don’t stay the whole game anymore. It’s just not worth it.
Not to mention it’s expensive as hell.

And you do realize LSU had a truly special atmosphere because everyone could attend and tailgate without a parking pass or a pay to park lot?
Now it’s all about squeezing every last penny out of a growingly frustrated alumni and fanbase, atmosphere and tradition be damned

I feel this way about the NFL. Just not into it anymore. I get offered free tickets all the time and I can park in my building and walk to the Dome but unless it's really good opponent or a national game, I usually pass.

So what exactly would you have done with a growing fanbase and limited spacing? I get tradition. But bitching about the logistics of parking on LSU's campus is screaming into the wind.

bullshite. Expectations should never have dropped and because of the line deterioration we should have gotten rid of miles sooner imo
You can say that, but the reality is that Miles did not do a good job of recruiting on both sides of the ball. Our expectations as fans, did not meet the reality of what was actually produced on the field.
Getting rid of a coach that consistently won 10 games a year, won a National Championship and for the most part, always had us in the "talk" is easier said than done.

Yeah, after going to games religiously for decades I handed my tickets off to 16 year old Pimp Jr and his girlfriend last year. And I loved watching all the other cfb games and not being completely worn down on Sunday morning. I'll probably let those tickets lapse soon-which is difficult for me because I'm sentimental and I've been going to games since before Steve Ensminger started college.

Not an LSU fan, but I'm sure this is applicable to everyone. It's harder and more of a hassle to go to games and tailgate. And it's easier to watch games at home.
It wasn't that long ago that I had to listen to Auburn-Arkansas on radio on a Saturday night because Arkansas wouldn't allow PPV. Everything has changed, and the shittiest games are all on TV, often at better times than they used to be.

Maybe I would really enjoy attending one game a year, but I am done making this effort 7-8 times a year. I just don't care as much as I once did.
I find myself more and more hanging at tailgates, and then in the stadium, wondering what else I could be doing with my life on the only incredible weather days in Louisiana. I think this season I'm going to make an effort to not go to any games outside of Georgia and Bama

My father's had season tickets since the 80's...at some point I was going to have them passed down to me, but this year I just told him not to renew them. frick it. 4 pretty good seats (242), parking pass in front of the track field, seat backs...
I went to LSU for 8 years, I don't need to peacock around in purple and gold to feel like an LSU fan. I'll still go to games, but I'm not planning my life around them.

When they started cutting down on the tailgating lots, charging for parking in non-premium areas, etc.... that was the beginning of the end for me. I try to do one game a year just for nostalgia, but the experience isn't nearly as good as it used to be.

Not sure why that’s so funny. Getting to see this Saints team play at the Dome is awesome
