It really is a belief though.
Had to keep a straight face while explaining to a mom that you cannot make your baby sick by simply breastfeeding when angry or sad.

Just curious where you pulled this stat from. I think I know the answer but just checking.

Actually, it literally is a birth and the route is irrelevant. Some OBGYN needs to talk to the photographer in question and educate her on how retarded she is for not only thinking that but thinking it so strongly against reason that she feels the need to be a huge C*nt about it.

I got kicked out of a EBF (exclusive breastfeeding) fb group because I took up for a mother who was getting bashed for asking about formula recommendations for her baby. She was someone who needed to supplement and was having issues finding a formula that didn't cause her baby GI issues. Women were attacking her so viciously for not trying hard enough, not dedicating herself to making good enough Mother's Milk smoothies or lactation cookies... it was vile.
What in the actual frick. I'm in a couple of breastfeeding groups on FB as well, and I'm pumping/breastfeeding in addition to formula because my supply can't keep up with my 6 month old's demands, I read about these moms with babies older than mine and they're waking up 2x night to pump. I get that breastmilk has great benefits, but at what cost? Woof.

My 1/5 of the "Fab 5" was the same.

My wife had twins and didn't breastfeed at all, we just did formula.
Clearly, we just don't love these two knuckle heads as much as those breastfeeding parent!!!

they have to cut through layers of muscle and it never heals the way it was before the muscle was cut, that is the cause of most of the problems
This isn't how it goes postoperatively for most women. This is bush league mistake - one doesn't cut muscles for a Cesarean delivery, they are separated bluntly, and held apart for the delivery. With the most commonly used technique for a transverse lower abdominal incision, cutting the belly of the rectus muscle anywhere other than its insertion into the pubic bone denervates it and will lead to lack of tone going forward.
I've been around long enough to see the first swing toward criticizing cesarean delivery rates in the early 90s and insurance companies more or less coercing women into trial of labor after cesarean, to the age of cesarean on demand in the 2000's, back to now with organizations trying to artificially impose a desired section rate across the board. I've seen plenty of vaginal deliveries that are worse than cesareans. That kind of talk noted in the original post is simply a mark of both ignorance and arrogance. I would like to see some of the big talkers in the room when things get real and the pucker factor goes up and failure isn't an option.

Well congrats on the statistically significant increase in the chance of depression and obesity.

Congrats on OT baller status for being able to afford all of those doctor visits in the first 1-2 years.

We have a good friend who is successful, presumably a good wife and mother and a good person except when it comes to women having c sections. She will tell a complete stranger how terrible it is.
It baffles us.
This former L&D Nurse would love to talk to her and tell her how very ignorant she is. If not for C Sections many a Mother and baby would die in labor. Such a stupid stance to have on something she obviously does not understand....

Oh cool you're a 100+ years old? Interesting perspective.

I just read all of this and had no idea this was such an issue. My sister had to have an emergency c section because the baby was in distress. Turns out the cord was wrapped around her neck and every time started down the birth canal it would tighten and she would stop.
My sister also couldn't breast feed and my niece was formula fed. She's just fine. Healthy and happy and growing like a weed.

I don't get offended easily but I think I might slap a bitch who tried to suggest my kids were "less than" due to being born via C Section.
Posted on 2/28/17 at 11:39 pm to ManBearTiger
Maybe her baby was breeched, like my son was, which drastically complicates the birthing process. My son's head was lodged under my wife's rib cage and even the pre-planned C section was sketchy as frick. Those two Dr.s were money. I could describe what happened, since I watched the whole thing, but I'll spare everyone.
Before the birth they were worried my boy would kick the umbilical cord out of her vag and frick himself up. WTF?

All three of mine were c-sections. The first my wife's BP bottomed out and they had to deliver immediately. My second kid had/has severe congenital heart defect and the doctors were afraid the stress of delivery would be too much. The third was done because the OB thought it was a risk to delivery vaginally after two previous c-sections. My wife, who is a NICU nurse, and works alongside her OB on a regular basis, agreed.
This BS about it not being a birth is insane. How do they consider births that use forceps or vacuum extraction? When they introduce those wouldn't it go from being a birth to a medical procedure?

Well, the photographer is right. Guess what? My mom had me via C-Section and I was still born. Who gives a frick either way?

Do anti C-section people take this stance against all C-sections or only non-emergency ones?
Posted on 3/1/17 at 7:25 am to NoHoTiger
These women are ridiculous.
Let them have a baby that's breached so c-section is necessary.
Then have to stay in the nicu for a month with my wife having to pump all that time and then have 2 surgeries before 1 years old. And we consider ourselves lucky because we have seen parents with kids who have much more drastic issues than ours does.
