The only statement I can make is: is nothing private anymore?

If others want to share in that moment and we are comfortable with that moment being shared, what exactly is your problem with it?

It's the first picture of my child. It's not like my wife's vagina is in the picture. If I want family and friends to see it, what do you care?

I can see being apologetic about CSections. But there are a litany of reasons someone might have to have one.
Some may be by choice, but a lot are health concerns. I'm not going to judge either way.

I have 3, all-scheduled c section and formula fed babies that are healthy and smart and totally great. No probs whatsoever. My wife chose to have them all as sections and after reading her this thread, she said she's never encountered any shaming whatsoever.

Maybe you all run with some major bitches in your crew of friends. Ours have always been supportive.

Is there an issue here? I have pictures of my daughter with her cord still attached, and then got pictures of me cutting the cord. Sharing those is some sort of bad thing now?
That sounds awfully judgmental, kind of like the photographer OP is about.

More so the mother that doesn't want to be photographed than the child. At least not photographed and shared across Facebook.

On the other hand, your entire Facebook feed doesn't necessarily want to see you cutting the umbilical cord either.

You think the mother doesn't get input into the decision of what is shared of her child?

There is this nifty thing called "unfollow" on Facebook. It was of great help during the election cycle. It might work for you too.

ETA: And I didn't even share those specific ones on facebook. But I did share pics of her from less than 10 minutes into her life. I'm not sure why that blows your mind, or how you don't see how you seem judgmental.

Most people have seen that already anyway.

That was worth the wait for the response.

Point still stands. Maybe next time try your response out on someone in your office before posting.

No, that's not it. I was just commenting on having a photographer taking photos of the birth of the baby. My mother has photos from when I was born, but I believe she put on a little makeup and had on pajamas before the picture was taken.

It's just interesting to me how on one hand you have that then on the other side of the coin, I have literally seen photos of women breastfeeding their baby minutes/hours after childbirth plastered all over facebook.

I'm a guy, but can't say I'd want people taking photos of me looking horrible either. Yet, I have seen photos shared on facebook of terminally ill cancer patients who look like they could fall dead any second taken next to family members dressed like they are going to church.

I can't imagine people by and large really want photos of them at their worst shared to the world. In general I think people need to cool it on the sharing to Facebook.

You asked if sharing photos of you cutting an umbilical cord was bad in direct response to a post about sharing to Facebook. The answer to that question is yes it is, especially if your only defense is, "if you don't like it, 'unfollow' me."

You can't unfollow someone before seeing what you don't want to see....

Oh the horror

Guess you should just walk around all day with ear muffs and blinders on all day too, lest your stumble across something your find offensive.

wtf
As many, I didn't know this was a thing. I knew about the breasfeeding vs formula thing, but never heard of this one.
If someone is induced and doesn't dilate to over a 6-7 over a couple days, the baby is big and the doctor recommends a C-section.... Wtf is the mom supposed to do? Just push through?

Unbelievable

If that's what you call it. You've yet to articulate how any of this bothers you.

If you replace the "nobody" with you, I could get on board with that. But you don't speak for everyone, so your statement as-is is flawed.
