Some restaurants need to have an off-duty cop at the door scanning receipts, like at Sam's.

Went to Galveston a few months ago and before we even ordered they put my card on file like a bar tab because of the issues with you know who doing this eat and run trick.

yep. which will make prices go up even further, bc off-duty cops are paid by the restaurant. that is how and why this stuff affects all of us. it's the cost of living in a low trust society, and we live in a low trust society because of people just like this.

As a reminder, this directly shorts the pay of the servers. It also increases the cost for everyone who actually does pay.

If I was a mid level manager or owner at that place -- definitely telling the staff -- Keep an eye on fat boy and his party at Table 6.If you see 2 or 3 of them get up at the same time, go to the exits and say loudly: "Where you headed, player?"
