That case was so made up they disbarred the prosecuting attorney.

Crystal Mangum is dangerous. Not only tried to destroy three Duke lacrosse members’ lives, she was charged with trying to kill one live in boyfriend (charges reduced) and successfully killed another one.

Yeah, I just read about how Ironpeople deal with. They train for about a year, and steadily increase their distances, allowing their bodies to acclimate to that kind of high endurance training. Pretty crazy stuff.

Seen it a few times with the football guys that also wrestle and get done with football usually after playoffs when wrestling has already started. The football players think that they can just jump into wrestling workouts. Sadly, football shape isn’t wrestling shape. Really nothing gets you prepared for wrestling workouts other than maybe working out with a Frogman.

The pathophysiological mechanisms of COVID-19 vaccination-induced rhabdomyolysis are unclear. However, a few hypothetic mechanisms have been described suggesting mainly abnormal immune response. Such events represent an opportunity for clinical lessons.

Looks like a bunch of soft mf’r’s to me. I’m sure the girls team would do better.

On a side note: going to an extremely hard exercise when not adequately conditioned is stupid on all parties. The instructor, participants and medical staff.

Now put some college wrestlers through the same workout.
Prolly the most typical athlete of all to get rhabdo actually

It’s often the most in shape people that get this because the push extreme limits, or a former great athlete that takes time off then goes right back in to where they were before without taking time off

To get rhabdo, you actually have to not be a pussy

That doesn't seem crazy. That's pretty much exactly how I would expect people to train for high-endurance events.

Ah, so some SEAL thought it was a good idea to put a bunch of guys through some type of BUDS training without all of the behind the scenes support and the experience of a group instructors who have been doing it for years. Moron.

Yeah, not crazy at all. I just didn't know about this type of illness and was curious how they mitigated its impact. That's a very sound approach to it.

Exactly. Just because you made it through a course, doesn’t mean you’re qualified to run it.

And just because you’re an athlete that is fit as can be, doesn’t mean you can’t get rhabdo if you do some stupid shite in hot weather.

not sure since 2004, but it is the highest since 2008 for sure. youth baseball numbers are up the most over that time frame

little league is down i can tell you that, but baseball participation was at almost 17 million in 2023...year 2000 was at 8.8. Some may say due to changing population numbers but by 2013 it was down to 5.5. so tripled in participation in last 10 years

so everyone that says travel is killing youth sports...numbers show the opposite.

if i get bored this week and want to rile up to OT ill make a thread on this. should make for some good comedy and good way to pass the time

That was going to be my response. These articles always say rhabdo is rare. It happens a lot.

OTOH there was the UVA lacrosse player who beat his girlfriend to death because she wanted to break up with him. LAXers do tend to be on the entitled/douchey end of the spectrum.
