Collins is the only reason why I thought it could possibly work but it is still too risky to bring a rookie in and have that expectation. Collins has proven that he can play a 4-3 defense but it took him years to get to that point. We disguise blitzes and coverages but their base defense is 4-3. We don’t have the personnel to run any form of 3-4. However we do blitz lbs so that would be a plus. I’m intrigued by Braun’s versatility but it is risky. However I don’t like Murray so I would actually say I like Braun more. He is a really smart player

I’m OK with Braun if we drop back to later in the first round or early second. From what I understand he was mainly a pass rusher at Wisconsin. Not sure that’s what we are looking for in an LB. From PFF:

quote:

Baun played edge at Wisconsin and while he primarily rushed the passer, he also dropped into coverage far more than your average edge defender. In fact, 195 times over the past two seasons Baun dropped into coverage on pass plays. He earned coverage grades of 81.3 (2018) and 86.9 (2019) over that span. While that’s still a small sample size, it meshes with the fluid movement skills we’ve seen from him again and again on tape. After checking in at 240 pounds at the Senior Bowl, Baun unsurprisingly stated he wanted to make the switch to off-ball. All of a sudden, his pass-rushing prowess that saw him put up a 91.0 grade while rushing against college offense tackles becomes a serious weapon as a blitzer. His flexibility is superb and he has no problem playing through contact. That ability to defeat blocks also projects well when asked to play the run or defend screens from off-ball. While asking a player to execute a completely different role comes with some risk, Baun has proven to have the skillset to do it.

Won't happen but I wish we could trade up and get Jerry Jeudy. Jerry Jeudy seems like one of those guys that will 100% be a multi time pro bowler. I felt the same with Quenton Nelson

Coaches see a team once a year. Some teams not even once. It’s a popularity contest

Are you really serious? You don’t think our coaching staff studied film of every game Bama played before us this year and im sure reviewed games from last year again. They not just watching the one game we played them. They know who’s doing what and who pops out on film.

If it’s such a popularity contest, please tell me who was on it this year that didn’t deserve to be. Like I said, the coaches across the sec apparently saw the same things I see and agreed, it’s why he didn’t make the team.

Apparently pro scouts think he will be a lot better pro player than college player ala Danielle hunter, and he’s a certainty to be a first round pick like most of you are saying. Guess time will tell.

Murray reminds me of Devin White. I'm a homer like the next guy so I love Queen too, but Kenneth Murray is a stud. If he's still there at 24, you gotta jump on it.

This dude named Justin Jefferson didn't make first or second team while being second in the SEC in receiving yards, that's a problem.

I could be wrong in this but I believe the voting is done before the post season games and is only based off the regular season. Queen started kind of slow but progressed toward the end of the season and exploded in the playoffs/championship. People see this as a negative but I think it is a positive. Shows tremendous development through the course of the year for a 1 year starter and played his best football against top talent.

Queen would be an excellent pick. Put him at WILL, move Davis to the MIKE and keep Kiko at the SAM and you've got a nice LB group.

Murray- Better size, more tape, more violent when he hits you and more instinctive

Murray is NOT more instinctive than Queen. Many are convinced that Murray has such a higher floor but the guy has been starting at lb for 3 years in college and still doesn’t have great play recognition. You can get away with that in college with athleticism but not in the pros.

Completely agree, he should have made 2nd team. Like some said though 450 yards and 5 of those touchdowns came from the sec championship and playoffs and not the regular season when voting took place, which hurt him.

Baun is better than murray imo. Can rush the passer and drop back. Don’t know why we aren’t talking about him more

Because he’s a better at 3-4 OLB than 4-3

Being able to cover and rushing the passer translate to any scheme. Again, they extended an offer to Jamie Collins. Who was a playmaker at 4-3 OLB with NE. Same skillet

4-3 is only a base scheme, the spread offense makes a base defense almost irrelevant. Saints only ran out of base defense 16% of the time. Schematically it’s a hybrid defense. There is a history with this regime and versatile defenders. From every level of the defense

I wouldn’t hate the pick I’m just saying I think they value Queen and Murray more

I’m for whatever pick helps us at a position of need, which is either OL, LB, CB or WR

If we can get two players that help us this year from those needs in the first two picks I’m happy. Realistically it will probably be LB or CB at 24, best available and speedy WR like Duvernay in the third. I could see them re-signing Ginn or Williams depending on if they miss one of those positions. Most likely PJ because I don’t think they’ll be in love with any of the corners projected for us with Diggs and Henderson gone. I do think they should get someone as a backup outside CB. CGJ/PJ/PRob lock down the slot but if god forbid Jenkins or Latt go down we are fricked

My dream draft is a trade with the Texans where O’Brien’s dumbass gives us both second round picks for 24

2nd: Jaylon Johnson, CB
2nd: Malik Harrison, LB

3rd: Duvernay, WR

But that’s a pipe dream

To bat we don't have a second. CB seems like a good value in the second round this year.

I think there could be some small class LB available through the 3rd round like the Wyoming guy.

I can see the Colts sending both their seconds to someone if Love starts to fall. Saints may be able to get some action there.

Colts have 34 and 44.

For corner, I really like Amik Robertson as a nickel in the third, but I don’t know if he makes it that far. Jaylon Johnson and Fulton would be nice gets at 34 or 44, just depends on who’s all there.

Johnson and Fulton will be gone before Robertson. I think he will go later due to playing outside at Tech and having to play nickel in the NFL.
