No hate for either. Ill trade MT for picks/assets that will actually play and Maher did just fine. I just want Wins.

This move would save very little in cap space and would be trading a premiere player coming off a season long injury (actually, the better part of two seasons) so expect to get very little for him. Dumb idea but par for the course on this board.

You don't trade a guy who has top 5 at his position ability and hasn't really played in 2 years especially when it's the weakest position on your team

You would be lucky to get a 3rd for him at this point. Your best option is to find a way to work it out with him and get him back on the field. If he remains a pain you have to at least let him rehab some of his value.

This is tongue in cheek, I know. But Wil Lutz had two surgeries this year and still managed to stick around the facility and practice (from his wife's tiktok).

Don't @ me. I love tiktok.

I believe he'll suit up next season and produce. I'm not sure what the relationship is like between CSP and MT, but if the relationship is still rocky after next season it would make more since for both parties to trade him after a full season of play to boost his trade value and clear more cap space than a trade right now.

if we can unload his full cap hit, i'd trade him for a 3rd.

Dumb arse remarks. Thank goodness you don’t work in a NFL Front Office

I would say I’m more qualified than most here as I can acknowledge (maybe understand is a better way of putting it) that the Saints won’t be eating $23M in dead cap space on a guy that had a historically great season last time he was fully healthy.

The guy has been hurt for almost two years. I doubt anyone would offer anything prior to the draft. Most likely if anyone were to call it would be after seeing him in some preseason action. At that point you aren’t able to get anyone in the 2022 draft. Unless it a player swap and 2023 draft picks I don’t see it happening.

And there's no possibility of the Saints trading Thomas prior to June 1st. All these posters talking about trading Thomas for draft picks for the 2022 draft are talking out of their arse & here's why.

Exactly because it isn't financially feasible or smart. The Saints are not going to eat a $22.7 million dollar cap hit to trade Thomas prior to the April draft. The $13.8 post June 1st release or trade cap hit is still significant for an organization that will be pushed up against cap even by then.
